Since EA/Dice decided to patch Battlefield 3, I’ve been plagued with crashes during each and every map change. I’m not just talking about the odd crashing between maps, I mean EVERY SINGLE MAP CHANGE.
Like some of you, I too purchased a Russian edition to save money (although I didn’t realize at the time it was a Russian version (ya stupid me). I’ve followed virtually every instruction I’ve found online. I’ve downloaded every file I can find (that appeared safe that is), updated language files in both:
- C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Battlefield 3\Data\Win32\Loc
- C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Battlefield 3\Update\Patch\Data\Win32\Loc
… (including binaries) and even tried the registry fixes I found but to no avail.
Lastly, I got desperate and tried numerous drivers for my 460GTX as well as updated sound drivers for my mobo, I admit I was reaching on that one; still nothing.
Also, disabling Anti-Virus made no difference at all not that Avast uses that much in Gaming Mode anyway.
What actually solved my problem and I mean fully solved it was simply Alt+Tabbing out of the game when the score was being displayed. I would wait for the score to disappear and the new map to start loading and then simply maximizing back to the game.
Since practicing this one simple yet absolutely nonsensical and ridiculous action, I’ve yet to crash once between maps.
If you’re like me and having nothing but issues on map changes give it a try. It costs you nothing and hopefully it works for you as it has for me.
Good luck and see you on the Battlefield!
