Euro Truck Simulator 2 Recommended Mods

Since there are a few of us playing ETS2 now, I thought it a good idea to list the best mods in one easy to find location. Most Euro Truck Simulator Mod Sites don't have a sort by download feature so finding good mods that don't mess with your game can be a bit of a challenge.

...hopefully this will help.

We'll only list mods that DO NOT change your save games.

Realistic Physics Mod v7.0 for ETS2 1.4.1+

This mod adjusts the physics settings for all trucks and is a must have if you play ETS2. It also makes the air ride inside the cabin much more animated and is incredibly immersive: http://www.ets2mods.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=129:20130714realisticmodv70updated&catid=93&Itemid=481

...more to come.

I'm using the speed limiter version. I haven't unlocked it because apparently the real trucks have speed limiters so I want to keep it as sim as possible.

Also, I get so many speeding tickets as it is there's no need to turn it off.

Lastly, with the realistic physics mod installed I think you'd be crazy to try and push the limits because it does make truck handling a bit more dicey.

I was looking for some mods and came across this multiplayer mod that might be interesting:

-link removed-

EDIT: don't download, this mod seems not legit.

Judging from the video and comments, this mod seems to be working pretty good:

On the scs forums there's warnings (by forum moderators) about this multiplayer 'mod', the video is fake (it's just names stuck above the player and an AI truck, you can see the names don't stay on the same place above the truck but wave around a bit), and the download will attempt to install virusses. Just so you know.

If you check out the replies of the positive posters you see that they are all accounts of just a few week olds, and some have botlike properties, like subscribing to dozens of channels dayly and start dropping links in the comments, or posting the same 'this is great' on dozens of video's from the same uploaders.

I'm not too surprised to hear that because I've actually heard that the game itself is not built to support Multiplayer. To get MP in there they'd have to rebuild it pretty much from the ground up which I don't see happening.

Thanks for the heads up Shilka, the link to the website is removed. I kept the video in, so people can recognize this is fake.

Had a sneaking suspicion when the d/l link was so spurious so I waited, glad I did. Any real world businesses/petrol station mods that don't bork your saved game?

I downloaded a number of mods last night and will be running them over the next few days on a hacked backup profile.

Will report back what works without altering savegames and upload these files to our Server.

I've been diving back into this game big time lately, also installed some mods which I really like, so I'll list them here:

  • The official 'Going East' expansion; which adds Eastern Europe
  • TruckSim Map 4.7; which adds Southern Europe and North Africa, the ruhrgebiet, denmark, as well as some companies, signs and other improvements. This will add thousands of kilometers of roads, and is a great addition. Downside is not all textures used look good at certain places, and I've come across a bug in routefinding at the french westcoast. However, some additions are great, the roads at the german ruhrgebiet are awesome and typically german, and whoever worked on Greece did a fantastic job with very challenging mountain roads. There are also a lot of signs added which will indicate if a highway will split or have an extra lane at exits, which is really helpfull. http://bitly.com/bundles/thomastsm/C
  • Optical Clearing Barriers 1.5.2; which removes the visual barriers from the dead end roads, as they tend to kill my immersion. The barriers are still there though, just can't see them. http://www.ulozto.net/xzqwuLNf/optical-clearing-barriers-for-ets2-1-5-2-rar
  • Realistic Physics Mod v9.0; This mainly changes the suspension and cabin shake for a more realistic driving experience. This version is compatible with the latest patch. http://www.mediafire.com/download/m6suskyntucz2q7/Realistic+Physics+Mod+v9.0+(by+KacaK).rar
  • Trailer mod pack v2.0; Next to changing skins to real company ones, this mod also adds a bunch of oversize and overweight loads, heaviest being a 75 tonne locomotive on a wide flatbed, but also stuff like an M1A2 Abrahams tank, heavy tractors and farm equipment, all looking excellent, and with appropriate heavy weight. http://ets2.lt/en/trailers-mod-pack-v-2-0/
  • I've edited the config file in my profile and changed the interior sound from 1.0 to 5.0, so the engine can be heard much better during gameplay. Again this helps immersion, and for example it's much easier to notice that your engine is struggling going uphill.

I watched 5 minutes of one of your twitch sessions and withinm 5 seconds of the feed going live you had pulled away from a toll gate and sideswiped a poor innocent driver and got a 400 space credits fine :icon_lol:

I'll check these out at some point when I have time, it is a very relaxing way to unwind sometimes. I listen to the local radio stations too, sometimes you hear some right classic tunes... boarding a ferry to the sounds of Rick Astley... perfect o_O

Yeah, I remember that one, that's pretty rare for me though, I near to never damage my load, but I do make mistakes once in a while yeah :p

I must say, the combination of some of my mods make for a great driving experience, combining the steepness of some of the greek mountainroads in the map mod with a heavy load of the trailer mod and the physics of the physics mod, and you'll have some real challenges.

Was pulling an abrahams tank up a 10 percent slope, misshifted and came to a standstill...
First I stalled my engine like 5 times in an effort to get going again, then when I finally didn't stall, the rear wheels of my 6x4 started spinning without traction, then when I finally found traction by staying low rev on the brink of stalling, the combo of the heavy weight, steep angle and physics mod caused my front wheels to lift off the ground because of the torque in 1st gear, and I couldn't steer. HAd to intermittently let go of the throttle to bounce my front wheels back on the ground to keep my direction, untill I finally managed to do a few upshifts to 3rd and managed to getup the hill at 8 mph. Just awesome.

I really can recommend the trailer pack I posted, it's well textured, has the correct weights, and the trailers and flatbeds are designed in such a way that they don't cause problems in ETS2 (they aren't too long or too wide for stuff like tol booths, but long and wide (and heavy) enough to provide quite the challenge by just fitting if you take the right driving lines).

On May 1st, the ETS2 Multiplayermod will go open alpha!

And yes, I mean a real multiplayer mod, not those trojan fake downloads you see everywhere. I've seen closed beta tests on twitch and its looking good, though a bit rubberbanding at times. CXurrently theres trucks and trailers in, no stuff like synchronised traffic though.

More about the mutliplayer mod you can find here (and the download too on may 1st): http://alpha.ets2mp.com/

Very interesting, I wonder if SCS will keep an eye on it and make an official multiplayer at some point.

How are the servers handled though? Is there someone who hosts a session to which others can connect or are there dedicated servers hosting multiplayer sessions (I doubt the latter because it probably wouldn't be free then.)

I played TrackMania Canyon, in which you had to host your own sessions, but that didn't take up a lot of bandwidth, not sure how much ETS2 requires.
