Now that we're with a new Webhost on new Hardware there is bound to be unseen issues that affect overall website usability.

Should you experience an issue please report it here with as much detail as possible such as:
  • Exact error message (if any)
  • Browser used
  • What you were trying to do at the time.
...

Our current Webhost WiredTree has now become a part of Liquid Web.

I really have no idea of whether or not this is good or bad news but I am worried about it simply because it took a lot of pain, suffering and lost finances to find the unsurpassed hosting provided all these years by WiredTree.

I'm informing you all because it's imperative we keep our eyes open just in case things spiral downhill from here which is always a possibility.

A reliable, honest and dependable Webhost is near impossible to find, the bad ones are a dime a dozen.

Having said this, it is not taken as "the sky is falling". This transition could turn out to be a great move but we won't truly know until later in the year.

I'm just informing you all of this change and asking you to please help me keep on top of this new Host moving forward.

Should you experience any Website related issues such as long load times, pages hanging or error messages, please be sure to post them here along with time, date and Web Browser used.

Thank you.

E-mail sent from Liquid Web:

Hello,

I am pleased to announce Liquid Web’s acquisition of WiredTree, and on behalf of our nearly 600 hosting professionals here, I am extremely excited to welcome you to the Liquid Web family.

In 2016, as part of a growth strategy focused on serving web-reliant professionals,Liquid Web sought out well-run businesses with similar products, services, and customers. WiredTree was a perfect match. WiredTree and Liquid Web have a shared history, a remarkably similar platform, and a common philosophy. We are committed to providing you with reliable, secure, and highly available web hosting solutions - surrounded by our over 250 Red Hat, Linux, and Windows certified technicians who have repeatedly earned the highest Net Promoter Score and Customer Satisfaction Scores in the hosting industry.

We have been working behind the scenes preparing for this announcement and during this time, we’ve put in a lot of hard work to ensure this change is an elevation to your hosting experience. We also wanted to be sure we could lessen any concerns you may have about this change.

It’s important to me that we address some important questions.

First, your pricing will not change.
In fact, we intend to upgrade your services at your current pricing level.

You will have the same or better products and services.
We will be providing you with the same - or better - dedicated and VPS hosting products. Additionally, we have a broad portfolio of products and services available to you including Managed WordPress, Email, CDN, Advanced Spam protection, DDoS Protection and more. Additionally, if you are a reseller of hosting services, we have specialized programs and dedicated resources that can help you grow your business. To speak with a Hosting Reseller Advisor, you can contact us at 1.800.580.4985 ext. 3163 to learn more.

Your IP address will stay the same and you may continue to use the same nameservers.
Your new server will be given an additional IP address and when it is time to move traffic to the new server, your current IP addresses will be transferred so that no DNS changes are required.

You can feel secure.
Our networking and security capabilities are significantly more sophisticated than your current configuration with WiredTree. In fact, we have implemented a “double-protection” DDoS security architecture (addresses both volumetric and targeted attacks) which you will enjoy as soon as you are upgraded to the Liquid Web infrastructure. We guarantee 100% network and power uptime or we’ll credit your account 10x for the amount of any downtime you experience, supported by our 24/7/365 Sonar Monitoring team and Networking team. If there’s a problem, we fix it fast. We own and control our own data centers. We’re never closed.

We will be upgrading your services during the first half of this year. Before the upgrade takes place, we will contact you with information about your personal upgrade schedule and the exact hardware you will receive. Your data will be migrated to Liquid Web’s wholly-owned, state-of-the-art data center, featuring industry-leading hardware and premium security services.

We have assigned a dedicated team to work on your upgrade and you will be provided a direct line to communicate with them throughout the process. We will follow up with instructions about your enhanced account and the new features it offers as well as billing and account management. You can be assured that we will do everything we can to make your server upgrade process a smooth one and to make sure your websites transition seamlessly.

If you have questions please don’t hesitate to contact us how you always have - by calling 866.523.8733 or opening a ticket at support@wiredtree.com.

And finally, we know choosing a hosting provider is an important and critical decision. Thank you for entrusting WiredTree - and now Liquid Web - with the success of your sites. We intend to earn your business every day. We are proud to have you as a Liquid Web customer and want to be your partner in hosting for years to come.

Sincerely,

Jim Geiger

Just a quick update.

It appears as if the Server migration will take place between Jan 30 and Feb 1, 2017. There will be some testing to do once the transfer is complete and if successful will equate to some downtime once we make the change permanent.

Having said that, there may be issues with the new server so I may ask you all to login and abuse the site as much as possible to ensure it's working.

Once we're happy, they'll schedule a "Go Live Event" whereby the new server will be updated with the remnants from the current one. Once that's done we may be offline for approx. 1 hour and once up the site will be forever accessed via the new server.

...

Hello Ken,

We are ready to upgrade your server and services. We are thrilled to have you join our Liquid Web family and have a dedicated migrations team to make your upgrade as smooth as possible. Our migration specialists are ready to start the process of moving your sites to our Liquid Web data center between Jan 30th and Feb 1st.

While we know that moving your data can make you nervous, we are excited to offer important enhancements to your hosting services including improved security features, guaranteed network availability, and industry-leading SLAs and guarantees at no cost to you.

We are pleased to offer the following customized upgrades and services to you:

Intel® Xeon® Processor E5520
165G of RAID protected disk space
6G of RAM
3 days of Storm Backups
1 Additional IP address
Unlimited incoming bandwidth and 5TB of outgoing bandwidth.
LiquidWeb's ServerSecure Product

As your Liquid Web migration specialist starts your upgrade, you may receive a notification that your server has been accessed. This is the first step of transferring the data to your new server. This read-only process makes no changes to your existing server. Once this initial sync is complete, we will help you test your site and ensure that everything is running smoothly. The last step is to schedule a time for your new server to go live, when your data and IP addresses will be completely moved to your upgraded server (also called a Go Live Event).

The steps below are a detailed outline of what to expect during your upgrade process. We understand that your configuration may require special handling. We will work with you throughout the process to address any concerns.

Step 1: We’ll start your upgrade between Jan 30th and Feb 1st. This is when you may notice that we’ve accessed your server. To ensure data integrity, please do not add new sites or make updates during the upgrade.

Step 2: We will send you testing information so you can confirm your websites are working properly on your new server. Don’t panic if you see errors. The site is not live yet. Whenever you upgrade a server, these errors can occur because your new server is slightly different. We’re here to address any configuration changes you need. Please take this opportunity to tell us about any potential issues or make any additional requests. We’ll take it from there and contact you directly for resolution.

Step 3: We will schedule the Go Live Event with you and send a reminder before we begin. At the scheduled time, we will perform a final sync of your data between servers to ensure that all of the information is as up-to-date as possible. Then, we will move the IP addresses from the old server to your upgraded server. This will require approximately 30-40 minutes of downtime, and we will do all that we can to minimize any impact. Once complete, your WiredTree server will be disabled and all traffic will flow to your new Liquid Web server. No other changes will be needed on your end as the IP addresses for all your sites will remain the same.

Step 4: You will now have full access to Liquid Web support via live chat, phone, and tickets as well as full access to all Liquid Web has to offer.

At this time, we have the information we need to start your upgrade. We look forward to working with you and will contact you shortly to arrange testing.

Regards,

Josh Lemerand

I'm in the process of backing up all Websites and databases locally which may or may not translate to slightly longer load times when perusing the site.

This will be happening much of Saturday and Sunday.

My apologies for any inconvenience this may cause.

Just so you all know, the sites may be switching over to the new Server within the next 24 hours.

Assuming this is the case you may not be able to find us online until DNS propagates in your local area.

Once you do get back onsite please test everything you can and report any issues here.

This is our only chance to root out any big issues. Once they wipe the current Server of all that's on it now all will be lost.

Thanks,

Ken

OK so it looks like the "Go Live" was a success as I've not seen nor been informed of any issues.

So now we're officially on the new Server with the new Webhost so I ask you all please keep your eyes open to any site related errors or Server related errors.

We have a very small window in time to revert if things go sideways so if we don't catch any issues now we're possibly stuck with them until the end of time.

Thanks all.

I got this error today at around 14:50 GMT while quoting a post I was replying to:
Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator at webmaster@bandofothersgaming.com to inform them of the time this error occurred, and the actions you performed just before this error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.
It popped up as I was typing at around 14:50 GMT and then again when I wanted to submit the reply.

Edit: It just did the same thing again for the same message. When I removed the quote it worked fine.

This error has popped up for me as well when posting a longer post so I had to cut it down considerably to get it working.

I've been through the backend of XenForo and cannot find issue in any of the settings so my guess is this is Server Issue.

I am getting bombarded with this message when trying to send a PM...

I haven't even sent it yet, it just keeps popping up when I'm trying to type.

Sorry, that was more of a test to see if I could do anything. Looks like I might have just had too many pictures in the message. Took some images out, copied the message, reloaded the page, and the message sent fine.

The issue you brought to light also happens with long text responses when quoting a message. I don't know if it happens all the time but it's happened to 3 of us now.

There are some issues and I'm very sure they are tied into the move. I'll point the webhost in this direction and see what input they may have in the matter.

Error is the same I posted above.
Browser: Chrome
Behavior: Trying to create a post. I can't post the text here either because it triggers the Error.. Either the text, or text and image combination, becomes too large, and I get the Internal Server Error message as soon as I reach the limit. If I remove the image, or text, it posts fine.

I do not have to attempt to click "Post Reply" to trigger this error. It automatically pops up as soon as the post becomes too large.

kk thanks Zac. I'll direct the new Webhost to this topic and see if they have any ideas.

I did find some obscure post of someone else experiencing issues after a move as well. Apparently they had an issue with a php.ini looking for something that wasn't there as they were on a newer version of php (or something to that effect).

I'm not sure if this is the issue but given this should have been a mirror from the previous site that had no issues whatsoever my guess is it's some sort of server config issue.

We'll see.

Thanks Zac.

Actually one more question Zac, can you try logging out of the site and then logging back in?

This should clear your cookies from the Forum and ensure there is no issue perhaps stored locally on your machine.

This is a hail Mary and probably won't work but if you don't mind I'd love to try it.

This is a security error which appears to think there is a potential cross site scripting issue.

When you click that link, where are you re-directed to?

I already posted here that I believe a lot of the errors to be originating from a file ownership problem which means the site will need to be rebuilt.
