Finally made it to Baron rank... and the Clipper

After what seems like forever ranking up in the Imperial Navy (they don't make it easy!) I have been promoted to Baron and promptly sold my A rated Cobra MKIII and my hauler Type - 7 to purchase the ship I've been gunning for since I started playing with a fresh start upon release day.

I am now piloting the magnificent Gutamaya Imperial Clipper

I've christened her the "H.M.S. Bodacious"

Man did this take some work to get the opportunity to purchase her, not just in credits but achieving the required rank.

The benefit being not many people are flying about in Clippers, so they are something of a rare sight in open play.

The cockpit is absolutely brilliant, it goes really well with my custom HUD colours, and the sense of space is incredible. The view out of the cockpit is second to none, a completely unobstructed view - perfect

And the sound - holy mother of a moose what a sound this ship makes. During a high speed manoeuvre it sounds like what I can only describe as an F-14 Tomcat making sweet, sweet love to a Tesla Coil.

At the moment I'm running in trading configuration so I have 248T cargo capacity, which nets me 584,947 CR per return trip, 1 jump between stations. Not bad, not bad at all.

Insurance as it stands is 1,126,277 CR which is covered, and a full cargo hold costs between 1,076,568 CR to 1,533,880 CR.

I've got an A class FSD with a fully laden jump range of 14.55 LY.

I'm looking forward to kitting her out in combat configuration, but I'll need to get some serious credits coming in first...

At the moment I have 4x Gimballed Pulse Lasers, 2 x Point Defence, a Chaff Launcher and Heat Sink Launcher for some protection against pirates, which should be more than enough, if not the C class Thrusters can get me out of trouble, the Clipper is one fast sum' bitch.

Overall, really happy with it, and definitely will stick with this ship for the near future, and I can honestly say it was worth all the effort to obtain it

Mondo - H.M.S. Bodacious cost me just over 22 million CR to buy, it currently owes me just over 31 million with the upgrades I put on it so far.

tm - lol it is a bit daunting flying without shields, the slightest knock to the hull and it's pretty expensive repair bill... A scrape with another ship or the toaster rack can cost you big time. Makes docking/undocking a welcome challenge though

We've all been helping each other out, and if it wasn't for Shilka helping me out with a rares trade route to get me on my way I probably would still be in a Sidewinder right about now (thanks again Shilka). With the info Shilka gave me it gave me a better understanding of trading rare commodities, and from there I went into regular trading. That (trading) is a whole game in itself, never mind the rest of it

Hi there

I found your post while googling for random info (and pictures) about the Imperial Clipper. I saw your post and most of all your Pictures and I had to sign up for an account (also the idea of these forums seems very nice indeed)

I have been flying a Clipper for quite some time slowly trying to upgrade everything to A. And I simply love the ship. To me the Clipper (with the current list of ships) is end game ship. I dont want anything after that, at least not as my main ship.

Anyway back to your Pictures, they are amazing! and one of the very few i have seen that does not involve cockpits and such. My I ask your permission to use them as my personal desktop theme? Its really annoying that you cant take Pictures like that without the help of others

Feel free to use the pictures, and hello to a fellow Clipper owner! I love everything about this ship, it really feels special compared to the other ships eh? You get a real sense of it's size when docking etc. and the sound is amazing isn't it.

Ill look forward to that. For now i have been playing mostly solo play or on the Mobius PVE only Groups. Im not much for pvp ...would rather Work WITH people then against them. I love Elite and im hoping that they have the strenght to carry out their vison of the game (played both elite 2 and 3 back in the day and there are some aspect like planetary landings im looking very much foward to)

Not sure if everyone knows this yet but i'll post it anyway :
If u add Elite to steam u can use the overlay to make hd screenshots quite easily .
And it also enables you to broadcast(steams version of streaming) your non steam games .
Been using this method to make some very nice screenies of my 315p from Star Citizen .

Hi DOA there's already provision for HD screenshots, you use ALT + F10 (unless in open play). I personally use OpenBroadcaster to broadcast to Twitch, but it's good to know there are options!

Personally I want to see an "hours played" option like they have in Steam. On second thoughts, maybe I don't :icon_eek:

Yes I belong to the Mobius PvE group as well, and it's something we like to do here too. Good bunch of guys (and gals).

I played the first two Elite's too, absolutely loved Elite 2: Frontier and played that to death, even though I didn't always understand it as a young lad. It's a big part of why I was so excited for the release of ED, and like you I can't wait to see how it develops.

Knowing David Braben, and Michael Brookes like I think I do they will keep pushing this title to be the absolute best it can be I'm pretty sure of that
