B2O iRacing 24 Hours of Le Mans 2017

Here is what I was trying yesterday. I found a setup on the forum somewhere, but the front right heights were about 30 mm higher than what they could be, so in the end I think I went with baseline and adjusted it. I dropped the tire pressures to -5698 kPa and lowered the ride height and rake. I think I also messed a tiny bit with the supsension but it felt pretty good the way it was.

3:59,356. i'm not on your level yet @Noodleguitar but i think it's starting to look decent.

i also wanna change the ford to my 1st choice :) corvette is 2nd

also @Noodleguitar i've got some questions about driving the ford
-trail-braking yes or no?
-i tend to spin at low speed (2nd gear) and massively understeer at high speed corner entry (porsche curves) what am i doing wrong? (maybe you can help with this in teamspeak if that is easier :))
-does the ford work well on low revs like the corvette? (4th gear through all of the porsche curves)(4th gear through tetre rouge)

thanks my fellow dutchman :)

- I think I trail braked in the fast corners but doesn't seem necessary in the slow corners.
- I didn't have the massive understeer, maybe you're going into it too fast? It does rotate quite nicely in the slow corners. I mostly had issues on the inside curb of the fast chicanes. If it's causing you to spin, you're probably turning in too quickly or too fast.
- I think the Ford should be revved quite high (not sure what the number is). The gearing might be off at the moment. I had to increase the length of 6th gear but I left the others untouched so far. I think I might even be in 3rd through Têtre rouge, not sure.

Yeah, thanks for not making a mess, @Noodleguitar...

Here is a video file for the HPD ARX-01, @Duke, if you could be so kind!

This was my best lap of the session, yesterday. Got a 3:34.000. I would consistently gain 0.5 seconds of green-time by using first-gear in the Dunlop Chicane, but I could never hold that green time throughout the rest of the lap. Keep in mind, this was 50% Moderate Usage track state, so whatever that means for the lap time. I think more grip in the corners but more resistance on the straights? Overall, the lap times went up as the session went on..

I got down to the high 3:30's yesterday in the HPD, so I am back to my normal 2-4 seconds off fast people pace. Very, very seriously considering switching my first choice to the HPD.

I ran 12 laps in a hosted session today with the Aston. Majority 3:53 - 54's and my fastest was a 3:52:5. I think I have a 3:51 in me but need that one perfect lap. Noticed some areas where I'm not going wide enough on corner entry. Not sure I can get a sub 3:50 but maybe equal it after I get some better lines hashed out.

Noel I tried the set and it seems OK, but try 3 front ARB and 2 rear. It seemed to behave a bit better when it got bumpy (apexes, chicanes, curbs).

I then tried the iracing built-in lemans setup, lowered pressures and ride height, and felt similar but a bit faster?

I'd like to test some more traffic, also with gearing. Curious to know how fast we'll get in draft and if it's worth going slightly longer gears.

Nice, I'll try that at some point. I thought my set was based of baseline as well but maybe it wasn't (or the wrong baseline).

I haven't touched the gearing that much yet, it definitely needs to be longer when we're in big draft. All I did was extend the 6th gear a bit, but the gap from 5th to 6th is quite big now, so we're gonna need to fine-tune the lower gears somewhat too I guess. We could even use 1st gear for the slowest corners to give us more options for the higher speed corners.

The Aston setup on the TS server felt fine. I'm not picky though. As long as its not trying to kill me every corner, I'll drive the nuts off of it.

Driving time clarification.

Start of race - 0100 GMT

0500 GMT - end of race

Only single stints as that is all my bladder allows for. I don't mind going every other if it helps with scheduling.

NEVERMIND. I found the files on TS. I didn't dig deep enough bases on GT1, GT2, etc.

I think I am going to take my name out of the list of people driving the LeMans in June. I've spent a lot of time practicing and I am still several seconds off the pace of the group. I don't want to bog the group down with my lackluster attempt at driving. I will keep practice and hope to be able to join in with the group at the next endurance race.

I'm going to go ahead and officially change my 1st choice to the HPD. If that throws the teams in to whack and I still need to drive the Aston I will do that.

My availability this event is going to be mostly the first day. I can do a late night PST stint, but I need to get to bed at a decent hour as I have a family commitment Sunday the 11th.

So in PST I am available from race start (which I believe is 6 AM PST) until 2 AM PST on Sunday (e.g. I need to be getting out of the car at 2 AM PST).

Keep at it man, you'll get there. Remember, its endurance racing. It's ok to be a little off pace, I am. The important thing is to endure.;)

John, Remember this is a team event where we are after a fun time for the entire group first and foremost. Nobody is going to get left out because they were not "on the pace" (I would never get a drive if that were the case lol).

We still have 3 weeks until the race, week 12 is protoGT at Le Mans for 90 minutes anyway so there will be practice servers up all week in addition to any hosted sessions we put up between now and then. There is plenty of time to hone your lap times and get comfortable in the car :)

Also, when we're practicing together, we might be able to give some pointers on where to improve (braking later, adjustment to line etc.). I'm sure anyone on the team would be willing to look at a lap of yours and do their best to help out.
