Fog has always been an issue in the ArmA Series as has dust really. Fog, dust and other dense particle effects were always rendered poorly and never really masked the presence of a player or enemy.
In ArmA3, these issues are a thing of the past and fog is implemented both beautifully and accurately based off altitude.
