Unless you want to argue about whether or not we should argue.

OK so here's the beginnings of a master design for the league marketing. All material will feature this sort of theme from now on, including the weekly League Race threads (the image at the top).

This is designed to be the first part of many sub images which all will contain different info... this particular one is simple and just states the league's day and time for now... It's obviously not done yet, as it's missing two cars... so it will extend downward and might contain more info. This one also is not meant to be the very first image, hence why the logo is not very large at the top right.

As I said, there will be other images using this basic design to outline things like what sets the league apart, the general schedule for a race night (open quali, quali race, race), season schedule, and more.

Here's a couple other sections... haven't had a chance to include the other two GT3s... (Ford and Macca) as I can't find a good render, like I did the other three. So those will be included.

Good work Kyle.

We'll be adjusting the times on the images to reflect the correct values though right?

I was going to say - I didn't think you'd like it much considering there's color and such on there. But I am very confident this will draw interest to anyone that clicks into the thread and the quick-glance of information will get those that are interested to read further into the big blocks of text to get involved, to discuss, etc.

I assume you mean 7:30 instead of 7 for open quali start? Actually I probably should also add EST to the race night schedule one. As you can see they're not finalized yet. The timing layout, to my knowledge, is very loose and has never been laid out like this before. I know we normally begin at 730 for an hour's worth of open qualify. Which I'd like to open up further discussion about, but I'll take that to the league discussion thread, now that I'm thinking about it.

Yes, looks good. It feels kind of like an old newspaper-style to me. It's not a style I would normally pick but that's personal taste and this is definitely unique. The cars looks awesome when displayed like this.

About the wall of text, I wouldn't mind reading it if I was interested but unfortunately most of the iRacers don't have an attention span like that. Many people just want to race and do as little as possible next to that and you can't really blame them. It just becomes harder to get everyone on the same page.

I do agree that the paragraph headers should stand out more. But that's not really an issue if you're using Kyle's graphics.

So I designed the marketing image to be able to be broken up, depending on how you ultimately want to display this on the forums. For example, you can split each subsection (the top introductory one, the middle schedule subsection, and the bottom rules subsection) and put a decent amount of background/more in depth text right below it, before going to the next subsection. Or it can be simply displayed fully.

As far as I can recall, the image was optimized for iRacing's forums, which I think is a bit wider than these forums, so it may seem a bit smaller.

Thoughts?

Looks good to me so, nice work.

The only thing I'm not sure about is the Participation because isn't that supposed to read 4 drop weeks instead of 3?

I really like this. Simple, stylish, clean and easy to pluck the information you want very quickly. I absolutely love the simplicity and easiness on the eyes. Great job, Kyle!!

You're right, that will be adjusted. We should really discuss though (not in this thread) how we should handle seasons and drop weeks in the future, in regards to weeks that the league doesn't run.

The idea now is to promote the League to the point where drop weeks are no longer necessary.

If this League is to flourish we'll need to find ways to run every single week or perhaps have a one week drop the middle of each Season. I'm not sure but it's something we can discuss and change later if need be.

Few minor changes, but should be all set...

I fixed the drop weeks to say 4.
Changed URL for more info to simply "www.bandofothersgaming.com"... you can include the actual blog URL to the full rules in the text for the post itself, that way people can click or copy paste as necessary.

Here's the full image, broken up, and an extra advertising image.

Section one, simple foreword, introduction to league, community, etc.

Section 2 - going more in-depth with what sets us apart / full schedule.

Section 3, presumably for links for registration, further rules reading, etc.

Band of Others Social Blancpain Sprint Series League

Hello fellow iRacers,

Are you a fan of the real world Blancpain Sprint Series and wish you could experience it in iRacing?

Do you love running GT3 but tire of the chaos often present on track, in race-comms and/or chat?

Have you ever been wrecked and felt jaded over the outcome as the wrecker Drives off free of repercussions while you cool your heels in the Pits?

Have you ever been part of a League that felt no more intimate in nature than your average Official Session in iRacing?

If the answer is "yes" to any of the preceding then we may have something of interest to you.

Band of Others Social Blancpain Sprint Series League

Banner1_Forums - 1.png

After nearly a year in testing, we've created what we believe is the most authentic and entertaining Blancpain Sprint Series experience possible within iRacing.

Our structure provides a challenge for Drivers of all skill levels and gives everyone a fair chance to place well in the standings.

League Structure:

Band of Others Blancpain Sprint Series League does its best to near replicate the real world Blancpain Sprint Series.

Currently this translates to three Sessions every Friday night commencing at 7:30 PM EST; total run time appox. 2.5 hrs.

Session Outline as follows:
  1. Open Qualifier (1 hour): All League Drivers attempt to put down their fastest lap-time while helping each other tweak their shared setups. *
  2. Qualify Race (20 minutes): "Opt in" Inverse Grid. Drivers are afforded a 10 minute break or Warmup prior to Qualify Race.
  3. Main Race (50 minutes): Grid based off results of Qualify Race. One mandatory Pit Stop at 25 minutes for tires only.

Setups:
Open (shared)
Fuel load: 100% over all sessions
Fast repairs: 1
Entry Fee: Gratis

Please note: Drivers taking fast repair outside of Pit Window must serve a drive through penalty during mandatory Pit Window.

Social Component (Core):

Band of Others is a non iRacing centric Multiplayer Gaming Community meaning we exist both in and outside of iRacing. We support a host of other games via a vibrant and fun Global Gaming Community and dedicated 500+ slot Teamspeak 3 Server.

Our Membership is comprised of good people like you who've known each other as little as a few days up to and including 12+ years. Given we are a Social Gaming Community all aspects lay the groundwork for our League.

In order to Race with us you must have Teamspeak 3 installed and be present in Channel during all League events. iRacing in game comms are used only for exchange of critical race information and are kept largely silent during events.

We find this social component equates to Drivers actually caring equally about their own as well as other Drivers Races. This keep the ignorance, carelessness and stupidity off the track. In our League when people wreck they actually feel remorse.

How often do you see this in iRacing?

We also run a program called "Practice Pals" where Drivers race in close proximity turning each Open Practice Session into a series of mini-races.

Practice Pals runs Mon, Wed and Fri (Friday being League) so it's quite likely you're well prepared come League night.

Once accepted into the League, you must register an account at Band of Others Gaming Community posting in the Introduction Forum as little or as much as you wish about yourself. Share your Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Twitch, etc., info as you please; it's about getting to know you.

League Applications:

At this time we are accepting applications for our League however we ask you please be patient during this process. As stated previously, we've been in testing for close to a year but feel load-balancing should continue up until the fields become full.

For this reason we're limited to accepting a maximum of 2 or 3 Drivers/week.

If interested, please PM me here with the subject title "B2O League Application". Please include why you believe you'd be a good fit for our League.

Driver Requirements:

In accepting to join our League, all Drivers are expected to race a minimum of 4 weeks/Season. Drivers who cannot do so must communicate in advance why else risk being pruned from the Drivers list.

Once accepted, please ensure you've completed the following:
License Requirement: We are not concerned so much with License Level, we just want Drivers who are wiling to race clean and learn from their mistakes while having fun.

...

Given the wall of text here I'll leave those interested with the following links.

I thank you for taking the time to read, here's hoping we see each other on track!

Sincerely,

Ken (aka Duke)

I intend to post the above at iRacing.com Forums later in the day.

Does anyone have any thoughts prior this being done?

I may be a bit late but I'd include one of the reasons at the beginning the desire to drive / experience a real blancpain emulation. Etc
