Band of Others Endurance Team

So I can almost feel it! Driver swaps are a mere few weeks away! I feel like it's a good idea to try and organize the team here, to see who is interested and who can race when.

[Insert cool logo in the works here]

Because they will require a bit more planning than the usual jump in and drive, this is probably a good place to start. I think maybe using the Calendar here on our site will also be a great tool for keeping track of when we plan to smoke the competition.

So let's get shit together so we can show how it's done!
Leave your preferred day(s) and timeslot for racing, as well as car(s) and series(s)

Try to keep to what you're comfortable with and willing / WANT to drive in an endurance race, not just the cars you merely own. We want to stick to the comfort zone of everyone, and in an team endurance race, it's better for everyone involved that we're not forcing anyone into anything they're not ready for.

I would be interested in some team endurance racing. I was also looking at Masters of Endurance (http://mastersofendurance.net/) if I can find a team, but that league has only a few races throughout the year.

Available Days:
All days, except Sundays.

Available Times:
All in GMT.
Monday - Thursday: 19:00 - 23:00
Friday: 21:30 - 02:00
Saturday: 19:00 - 02:00

Series:
Depends on the season 4 schedule.
Cars:
BMW Z4 GT3
Ford GT 2 or 3
McLaren MP4-12C GT3
Chevrolet Corvette C6.R
Ford Mustang FR500S
Mazda MX-5 Cup

And, if necessary:
Cadillac CTSV-R
Kia Optima

These are my current preferences. I will try to remember to update the post if they change in the future.

I'd like to think we can form our own team for them provided we can get it going and get some good practice with it. I personally don't see our endurance team doing every single race of a series, but rather picking and choosing the really fun races, and or the big events when we are good / comfortable enough. That means the longer, big name events like ___hrs of Daytona, petit le mans, etc.

Still though, the endurance series, like the GT3 Endurance series that will run alongside the regular GT3 Series this next shortened season, will give us a good idea how it is and if we want to continue with it. I did post a couple of the noteworthy (for myself anyway) season schedules in another thread here.

Available Days:
Wednesdays, weekends
Available Times:
All day
Series:
GT3 or Global Challenge
Car(s):
Mclaren GT3 or Cadillac

I think it's important to determine what cars we'll be driving first because unlike some of you, I'm not naturally talented enough to just hop into a car and go.

Also, my guess is that the car is setup once only so I'd be driving someone else's setup. Anyone know if this is true or does the car take your setup once you strap in?

Available Days:

Weekends only.

Available Times:

Since we have Euros here my guess is this should be somewhere in the 10AM - 3PM EST timeframe.

Series:

GT3, Ruf Cup, Global Challenge.

Ideally it may not be a bad idea to consider a multi-class series as it may make things a bit more exciting. I'm expecting that once the field spreads out after the first laps that there will be a lot of turning laps by yourself.

Car(s):

  • BMW Z4 GT3
  • McLaren MP4-12C GT3
  • Ruf RT 12R Track
  • Chevrolet Corvette C6.R
  • Ford Mustang FR500S
  • Cadillac CTS-VR
  • Ruf RT 12R C-Spec

I'm not that good either, worse than you in fact haha, and don't want to be jumping in and out of a bunch of cars. So my first intention was to see what everyone WANTED to drive, AND is comfortable enough to drive, and choose from what most everyone posts.

I'm not positive about car setup, but I'm pretty sure it would have to be a "universal setup" so everyone would be using it.

I love the idea of a multi-class race, though and I guarantee you the major races (not series races but special events) will be multi-class. As I said before, it's probably a better idea for us to practice with the regular endurance series (which are looking to be only 1 hour long for most races) to iron the kinks out and see how we perform. Then go to those major, longer events.

But once we look like we have everyone who might be interested then we can pick out a car / series.

We can do that, if we can figure out the scheduling; qualifying is on Wednesday but it does not mean the whole team should be present at the same time I think. I would assume 2-3 hours of driving in a stint, which would be the minimum in the 24 hours race. Also, the minimum iRating requirement is 1900.

I'm guessing that you can't change the setup during a swap, it's not really realistic. You can however change the in-car stuff before you jump in.
