Band Of Others Mobile App

I had the thought today to create a mobile app for Band Of Others since I browse the page when I'm not at my computer often and have some spare time on my hands since I was laid off recently. I'm extremely new to doing anything like this and have a friend that's created successful apps for companies to bounce some ideas off of.

I'd like to ask you guys first before I do anything if this is something you would like to see and use. Some other tech forums I've been apart of have made apps of their forums and I've always liked the idea. If you have any questions about this or even want to help out would be greatly appreciated.

I think adding a chat room of some sort would also be cool on the app as well, Just some ideas I had today let me know what you guys think!

Failed at putting a poll in so if you read this just give me a general idea whether or not you'd like to see a mobile app for us.

Another app to download and install for something that can be done with a standard browser and shortcut/bookmark, I don't really see the need for that.

What would be a better option would be a job for Duke, to make the site more "mobile friendly" and that it would dynamically change the layout to fit more on a mobile screen.

Exactly what Produx said (in the second paragraph). A mobile-friendly forum would be the ideal. But since we might not be sticking with this forum software it doesn't make sense to do.

If you've ever downloaded and used the iRacing Forum app, it should be like that. Same forums but a lot easier to browse on a phone. I agree that it would be real nice but I am sure until we decide what to do with this current shitty forum software, it's best probably not to do anything yet. It was just an idea, I do agree with you guys that having a more mobile friendly forum page would be ideal, honestly just trying to find something to do in my spare time being jobless and all and trying to teach myself basic coding is something I'm willing to learn.

Not going to do anything yet if the forum software we're using now is up in the air it doesn't make any sense to start a project like this quite yet. Thanks for the unbiased feedback guys!

You should try painting some cars! I'm not sure if you've ever posted any paints but skinning them is a lot of fun. A good challenge and seeing them used by tons of other drivers makes you feel awesome.

I wish I had that artistic skill but I've never possessed any painting skill what so ever. I might mess around with trying to clone some paint jobs just the software for it will take me 20 years to figure out hah.

Just to explain why our site is not currently handheld friendly is down to 2 reasons:

1. Neither the blog nor the forum offer the browsers the option of loading an alternate fluid style .css.
2. Both Blog and Forum will be undergoing massive software and/or styling changes.

Rest assured this is something I'll tackle in the upcoming months but it falls somewhere within a host of other responsibilities I need to satisfy.

On top of this I had to re-evaluate my finances as my Power Steering packed it in and had to be replaced last Tuesday to the sum of $610.00.

So, I'm busy and broke so handhelds will have to wait a little longer.

Actually I don't own a cellphone for 2 great reasons:

• I hate answering my home phone so portable makes 0 sense
• My friends become instantly unreliable

...actually 3 great reasons

3. there is no Pay as you go locally that allows minutes to transfer month to month.

It's just a waste of money for me and since I don't actually need one it really makes no sense to have it.
