Battlefield 3 Tactical Gameplay

I'm not really sure what most of your intentions are when it comes to Battlefield 3 but I personally wouldn't mind getting a little better at the game from a tactical gameplay point of view.

Since most of us have well over 100 hours into Battlefield 3, I was wondering if anyone would be interested in possibly taking the game to the next level by focusing on tactical gameplay?

Essentially, we would need 4-6 people minimum (4 regulars + 2 alternates) and work on tactical gameplay elements such as:
  • Squad/Unit Cohesion: Right now we run around like a bunch of individuals and make the odd call out when we get killed. Unit cohesion would make us more a tactical unit utilizing sound combat strategies allowing us to take on most any foe.
  • Know your role: Playing withing your designated role taking advantage of the class strengths for the betterment of the squad/team.
  • Map labeling: Proper identification and calling out of map zones based off identifiers we create here at Fragtard.
  • Proper KIA Callouts: When killed in action the player would call out where he was killed, number of enemy and whether or not medic should come out ready to revive or with guns blazing.
  • Gameplay Critique: Since we have YouTube, we can record these sessions, critique and learn from them. We can build off what works while leaving our bad habits behind.
It may sound a bit daunting at first but it should be pretty straight forward once we get into it a bit.

Any thoughts?

I think at the start we used to play a little more like that in squads, with us all making sure our specialisations were not clashing and that we had at least 1 medic and 1 support.

Sounds good

This is the big one IMHO; I'm the first one to admit that more often than not I play like a headless idiot (often because I try to get too cute trying to flank instead of staying with the squad etc.), so sticking together is the first thing we need to work on. That also includes
* don't engage when you are the last squadmember up; wait for people to spawn in and move together
* don't get in vehicles if it splits up the squad

If we can improve on that we'll be much tougher opponents IMHO.

And for everything - communication is the key.

Very good points Johnny.

I think for me I'd like to improve on my gameplay and I know we all could use some improvement with aspects of our game. I think a bit clearer communication and more cohesive squad play would help us be a lot more effective on the battlefield.
