DCS Blackshark 2 and DCS A10C

So I finally got both of these as A10C was cheap on Steam and BS2 was cheap if you own BS1, and BS1 was cheap on Steam.

The manual for BS2 is only 534 pages long and I've read almost none of it. Its more complicated that all of the planes in LOMAC combined! Still I'm going to set myself the goal of learning how to fly it...properly.

I've not even looked at A10C other than to set up TrackIR and the stick and pedals, land and take off.

One thing is clear, I'll be buying the CH Throttle next pay cheque.

Anyone else tried either of these? Got any tips?

I tried DCS Blackshark but packed it in fairly quickly because my system couldn't handle it. I had also lost my OS hard drive at the time where DCS was installed so I never bothered to install again.

Once I get my video card issue dealt with, I'll overclock my rig again (lost it during the N570GTX kafuffle) and catch up to you on the software. Now that I know someone else is interested in it, it will push me to be more active with it.

Sounds good! There is the whole system link between them so you can do stuff like allocate targets and set each others navigation systems. Looks like it might be very good multiplayer.

I'll knock up a thread with all the resources I'm finding for the DCS games. Looks to be allot and having them in a single place would be handy for anyone that wants to try it.

Its pretty system intensive but my 580 has room to breathe at full settings + tons of FSAA and AF so your 570 should also cope with things pretty well.

Ya the data link is absolutely sexy and terrific for target recon and situational awareness.

I'll definitely be installing once again and picking up whatever additional software I need to keep up with you.

I don't have Track IR though and I'm not sure it's in the budget for a while. Can I get away with using the HAT Switch or am I going to absolutely need 6dof?
