Elite: Dangerous Scary Moments

I'm still pretty new to Elite: Dangerous but even still this fine game has certainly produced its share of scary moments.

Last night I had my Adder loaded with Gold so much so that I only had 29 credits left to my name.

Not long out of Hyperspace I was interdicted literally seconds away from exiting Supercruise to Cleve Hub.

I'm not 110% sure what Interdicted me but it looked like a Cobra and he lit me up good. Needless to say I'm near panic at this point as everything is at risk.

Shields down and taking damage I finally get a decent bead on this guy and hit him with everything I got. I actually managed to land one rail gun blast for sure and came very close on the second (assuming I missed).

He backed off a bit which allowed me to start charging my Frame Shift Drive but it was taking forever to charge. Maneuvering wildly I managed to dodge most of his fire enough for shields to come back up and shortly thereafter got away on Supercruise.

As stressful as all this was, and believe me I was shaking as I came up on Cleve Hub; I was much more stressed out when I overshot Cleve.

Coming around and finally getting to the appropriate speed/distance to exit Supercruise my heart was literally in my throat.

When I finally docked I didn't even have enough credits for repairs, just enough to fill the tank. Fortunately the Gold I was carrying sold at an increased rate of over 1000 credits/ton (833 the night before) so it was like it never happened.

Except it did happen :icon_eek:

Scariest moment by far in Elite: Dangerous to this point and I don't think it was a moment I'll easily forget.

This game is truly amazing because even when you're just sitting back in Supercruise fixated on your waypoint the worst possible scenario can present itself.

...or not, which makes Elite so damn great!

Probably boosting my shiny new Clipper straight into an aste.....

wait, what were we talking about? Oh yeah.

Probably getting pulled out of Supercruise by a white dwarf than then decided to start cooking my new Cobra filled with 40t of rares.

I installed a heatsink launcher and pull the throttle back before I exit hyperspace now.

Flying around with no insurance money is hard to beat, next to scary it's, well, the #1 Nono in general, lol.

One of my scariest moments was when I aproached the letterbox wrong and managed to wedge my type 6 inbetween those iron toaster bars in front of the letterbox. Couldn't get it unstuck whatsoever, and the rotation of the station was giving my rattling and shaking ship a constant damage, eating away at my shields quickly. After struggling for what seemed like an eternity, I suddenly noticed that I actually had my landing gear down, must hav hit the button in my attempts to wriggle free somewhen. So I retracted my gear again and then after more wriggling I finally managed to get unstuck and land. I was lucky to not get the loitering warning I suppose, or I might have been shot as well, lol.

Another one was when I entered a system full speed, routinely steered away from the star in order not to get fried, just to steer right into the second star which was like at a 5 Ls distance from the first star. Almost baked myself to a crisp, but got a nice picture:

(I actually took the pic when I passed this system the first time, with no problems, but on my return trip I was approaching from the other side, hence steering into the second star)

Duke - I had a similar experience to you in a Hauler. My heart was in my mouth the whole time, sounds like you had some balls to turn around and fight, good for you

Scary moments? Too many to mention. I hate asteroids as much as Biff hates manure of course, I've flown into a station without getting docking permission with a hold full of rares and not enough for insurance, I hit reverse and gave it full beans figuring I didn't have enough time to turn around. Luckily nothing was behind me and I got out with 40% Hull as I clipped the letterbox (wasn't running any shields at the time). I've got into fights I shouldn't have (I've yet to defeat an Elite rated Anaconda Pirate), and now carry factor 1,000,000,000 sun tan lotion after getting too close to a star far too many times.

Love this game, and what's interesting to me is I can remember all these moments as if they happened an hour ago.
