ETS2 Next generation Scania S and R

SCS has already hinted a few times at it, but in a recent blog update the devs have indeed confirmed that work on the latest generation Scania trucks is well on the way, and nearly finished. The Scania S is already in internal testing, while the Scania R is close to being finished too.

Once testing and polishing stages have finished all that remains to be had is the final approval of the manufacturer and the trucks models will be released (which once again shows that getting a license for a truck model is much more then getting a simple permission to use their model, every little tweak and polish after the initial get go needs approval again)

The new models will not be tied to any DLC, and will be released as soon as ready as a free update.
Meanwhile, we'll have to drool over these pictures;

I just saw the Tweet for this a few minutes ago, damn you're on it quick @Shilka.

I'm really looking forward to this as I love the Scania. I've put so many miles in the Volvo and just love the feel of the Scania so much better, somehow it feels less "easy mode" to me.

Plus the Scania is sexy, mmmmn, yummy

Cool that they're working on new trucks. Some people think this whole paid DLC thing is not ideal but if it means your game gets updated with new and exciting content for a decent price I think it's a good thing.

Modern trucks look really good in my opinion. I was never a fan of the Scania but I think the new(ish) Volvo looks awesome.

I think the Volvo is a beautiful truck but out of the gate it just seems so sure footed and stable to me that it's almost too easy to drive.

I feel like the Scania is a bit more loose and bouncy by comparison and almost feels as if it's a truck that wants desperately to be a truck. For me it's just more interesting to drive than the Volvo.

For those who have the 'Mighty Griffin Tuning pack' DLC, SCS is working on updating the DLC so all those nice extra bits and pieces also fit the new Scania's, including some stuff made specifically for the new trucks. The updates to get the Mighty Griffin Tuning pack up to date will be free for those who already own it
