Far Cry 4

Yeah, QTEs (especially the button-mashing kind) break immersion something fierce.

I enjoyed FC3 btw, although I never finished it, but I was really hoping FC4 would eliminate QTEs.

Yeah, FC3 was a lot of fun. I don't recall there being too many QTEs, actually. There may have been more than I realized, though. I'm talking about something other than "Hit this button rapidly." More like "Hit this, now this, now that, now do the other thing!" That sort of thing.

Anyway, like I said, I'd be up for giving FC3 co-op a try some time with folks.

Finally we have some system requirements for Far Cry 4 (thanks Nvidia), and about time too, one week after the game has gone gold... Never before have I seen system requirements mentioned so late in development, or should I say, after development o_O

Doesn't seem too steep, at least compared to Assassins Creed: Unity, which has a new game engine as well. Luckily most of us should be able to run this;

System requirements:

Minimum System Requirements:

Operating system: Windows 7 SP1, Windows 8/8.1 (64bit versions only)
Processor: Intel Core i5-750 @ 2.6 GHz or AMD Phenom II X4 955 @ 3.2 GHz
Memory: 4GB
Video card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460 or AMD Radeon HD5850 (1GB VRAM)
Direct X: Version 11
Hard Drive: 30 GB available space
Sound Card: DirectX 9.0c compatible sound card with latest drivers

Recommended System Requirements:

Operating system: Windows 7 SP1, Windows 8/8.1 (64bit versions only)
Processor: Intel Core i5-2400S @ 2.5 GHz or AMD FX-8350 @ 4.0 GHz or better
Memory: 8GB
Video card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680 or AMD Radeon R9 290X or better (2GB VRAM)
Direct X: Version 11
Hard Drive: 30 GB available space
Sound Card: DirectX 9.0c compatible sound card with latest drivers
The game is being released for xbox 360, xbox one, ps3, ps4 and PC.

Supported video cards:

AMD : Radeon HD5850 or better, Radeon HD6000, HD7000, R7 200, R9 200 series
NVIDIA : GeForce GTX 460 or better, GeForce GTX 500, GTX 600, GTX 700 series

ps, also edited these into the original post :)

Doesn't look too taxing at all does it.

No support for 900 series cards?! I'm sure Nvidia will release drivers asap... :icon_neutral:

Well, these days supported means, eligable for customer support. In no means this means that a 900 card won't work, but if you have problems and contact ubi customer services they will just say; sorry, not supported so we won't try to help you.

Here's a nice video showing off some off the Nvidia Gameworks effects that have been incorporated in the PC version of Far Cry 4;

8 minutes of release trailer is here. Still not sure about getting this right away though, I'll sink hundreds of hours in the map editor if I do...

I'll be way too busy with GTA, COD:AW and trying to finish Tomb Raider. I'll get this down the road in a sale I think. Elite: Dangerous is releasing soon... There's FIFA games to play in my club, iRacing is calling me as well, Assetto Corsa is pretty but I prefer the community side of iRacing. Trying to resist! :p The list goes on and on, I'm actively playing about 10 games at the moment over different platforms and loving it :D

So many games to enjoy, it's a great time to be a gamer :)

I'll be passing on this game as well as I just have too many games to get through right now.

When it's 50% off I'll certainly consider it.

Thankfully far Cry 4 seems to be doing a lot better then Assassin's Creed Unity, as the first reviews are pooring in;

Eurogamer – 8
Videogamer – 8
Joystiq – 4.5/5
Destructoid – 9
IGN – review in progress
Gamespot – review in progress
The Guardian – 5/5
CVG – 9
GamesRadar – 4/5
Metro – 9
GodisaGeek – 9
GamesVillage [Italian] – 8.7
XGN [Dutch] – 8
IGN Germany – 8.3
Eurogamer Spain – 9

It does get a bit of 'Far Cry 3 in a new jacket/place' , but as I said before that doesn't need to be a bad thing, and at least the game is functional, and the open world seems to be as inviting as before. Especially if you look at the ingame map, there seems to be plenty of room to fool around at your discretion;

Who knows, might give this game to myself for x-mas after all ...

Here's a nice (and funny) vid that does a good job showing off the game in general without any storyline spoilers. Well montaged video too.

So this basically seems to be Far Cry 3 with new art elements and a new story. That's not necessarily a bad thing, but I'm certainly not paying full price for it right out of the gate. I'll wait til it drops below $30, and then wait for a Steam sale.

That's what I'm doing as well.

I do want to play the game but I don't want to pay full price for Far Cry 3.1 lol.

Yup, same here. This one can wait for a sale. By then I might be getting burned out on the current games that occupy me free time

I have it on PC and spend a couple of hours in coop with a friend of mine.
