Silverstone has been on the iRacing service since Day 1 (next to Infineon, Road America, and Summit Point on the Road side) and it really shows. While the NASCAR tracks, including Infineon have gotten updates over the years, the other tracks have remained generally unchanged, and while Summit Point and Road America haven't received any "layout" changes since the 2008 release, Silverstone underwent a major remodel 2010 and no track has felt more out-dated over the last few years than Silverstone. With the update, that FINALLY changes!

I hope not, I didn't want to purchase it the first time lol.
It's funny you say that, as even over here Silverstone is not one of the most popular tracks to either drive on at a trackday or spectate. I've been a couple of times and it was slightly disappointing considering it's supposed to be the jewel in the crown of UK tracks. It wasn't a great place to spectate, but was definitely fun to drive, the S bends of Maggots and Becketts being a particular highlight and Brooklands into Luffield on to Woodcote was really good fun trying to get good drive out of there.

Give me Brands Hatch, Donington, Knockhill or Oulton Park any day of the week to spectate at, but Silverstone is great fun to drive. Rockingham was fantastic too but they closed that down and are now not only demolishing the grandstands but removing all signage in the local area that refers to Rockingham motor speedway. Such a shame and a big loss. Drove a Lamborghini there once and will never forget it, going flat out on the banked oval section was amazing!

I'm thinking about getting back in to iRacing next year after I build a new PC to power the HP Reverb (or any other HMD that comes out that will beat the resolution of the Reverb, but I doubt it in that timescale), that HMD looks immense for sims, and despite all of iRacing's faults and expense nothing ever really came close to the feeling of anticipation and nerves before/during a race, and the rewarding feeling after when you ran a good race. So at least I know Silverstone will be nice and fresh when I come back, well done iRacing.

Will people who own Silverstone have to repurchase? (Have not watched the video.)
If you bought it in the last 24 months, no. If not, yes, since it's a completely new scan and required a bunch of new track-side modeling for new buildings and such. They went and did the full re-scan last year before the F1 race (so it should have the new track surface, which sadly sucks according to a lot of people...very bumpy).
