#GrandTheftThursdays - GTA Online

Looking forward to this weeks #GrandTheftThursday if we plan on running it with next weekends Great Race, the Bathurst 1000.

Currently both of my businesses are fully stocked with product and supplies so we are good to organize a meet in Los Santos for a hefty drop off. Did some scouting earlier and fortunate to find a new member @TRIPLETHREAT here's a warm welcome to the crew!

I'm deciding to keep the B2O Hemp Plant in business to balance out the evil my Meth shops creates in Sandy Shores and South Los Santos, Both businesses are striving currently so let's work hard to keep our employees happy and have plenty of work. Recently implemented a new cell phone policy which is to kill on sight as long as there is work to do, that should keep my guys and gals on their toes while at work. I left them all their own personalized shovels in their respected lockers to dig their own graves otherwise.

Cheers!

Went on sale on steam this week so I finally grabbed it, despite not wanting to purchase the game again after beating the single player game on 360, but a LOT has been added since then, and not having played online at all I figure there could be a lot of gameplay left for me to play.

So can someone explain what I've missed? What is the difference between offline and online gameplay besides obviously getting smashed by PvP? Can I do main storyline stuff online? Do we still have a server running or no? Anyone still play?

No. There is no online story mode. Your character interacts with several SP story characters in events that 'occur' before the SP story, but have NOTHING to do with the story in any way. Its basically just an open world, do whatever the hell you want, online experience.

Rockstar has added several vehicles every month or so, as well as adding bank heists (which require 4 people and have setup missions leading to the actual heists), they've added CEO's (where you and up to 3 'associates' steal or purchases various cargo and have to transport back to a warehouse, while becoming an active target to every other player to try to attack. Once your warehouse is full, you can go on "sale" missions to make lots of money. The CEO keeps 85% of profit with the other 15% being split amongst the associates.), and most recently they've added Motorcycle Clubs (where you and up to 7 other friends, run various illegal operations such as Weed Farms, Cocain and Meth Labs, and Money and Counterfeit ID operations. You need to keep these operations stocked with supplies, and sell the goods once their inventory is full. Every time you have goods, be it supplies or inventory, you are a target for other players in the room.

CEO's and MC's occur in the open world. All the servers are maintained by Rockstar. There are no "user created" lobbies, and although you can join an online Rockstar server by yourself, with friends only, with your crew only, or jump into an open online server, all of the CEO or MC missions are only available in open world sessions, where there are players who can, potentially, foil you. Sometimes they do, sometimes they don't care.

Heists start a mission like the original GTA Online missions. They're not open world. They create their own lobby, just like races, death matches, and other PvP missions.

I've never paid too much attention to the 'pure' PvP side to GTA, as it is not my thing, but I know that they have added things like Capture (essentially capture the flag, but with briefcases), and they've added Stunt Races, which are actually a ton of fun. Unrealistic with massive ramps, jumps, loops, tunnels, windmill style opsticles, etc, but much easier to navigate then the narrow street courses that GTA originally gave you.

Thanks Zac. So you guys just party up and all join the same server which is not necessarily the same as last time? Sweet.

I'll have to get involved with your company or whatever its called, even though it sounds like you guys have all switched to BF1 for thursdays and all.

And one last question, I believe there is extra content for those who had a 360 version? How does that work? Does it transfer your progress over? etc

Ah, yeah, only online character can transfer
iirc you would get extra money for owning it on console, not sure if it still works...
extra dlc I can't remember, but there's so much dlc now I don't think you'll miss the 2 shirts and rusty knife or whatever it was

You just need to log in rockstar social club and link your accounts. IIRC you needed to have atleast finished the prologue, and you needed to have played while being connected to xbox live in one way or the other, or else there is no record of you having played it on xbox of course (this doesn't mean you need to have played the online bit, but at least your xbox had to be logged in and connected to the net while you played SP)
