Guild Wars 2 Server

hello all,

i am making this post to get the talk about home sever started. One option is Fort Aspenwood. Threshold a gaming group like Fragtard will be on that sever Jez, engnr, leftnut, and i have play with them. They will be making a guild, maybe we can join that guild or just team up with them. I am not 100% on how the severs work for the euros, is there international severs where we can both jump into? So lets talk it up

I think it would be cool if we could have our own Guild personally, we could still work with other Guilds but having our own identity seems kinda cool to me.

BTW, I was peer pressured by Engnr and Jez to buy this bl00dy game too.

Aspenwood is fine with me, I just want to avoid the Goon Squad, Reddit and 4chan guilds of the world.

I'd like to find a server that will work well for our Euro contingency also. I'd risk lousy pings to have the ability to be in the same guild as all our Euro friends that are planning to play the game. So T.T.H., hexe, JK, Mondo, Wappy, who else?

I though they have split the game into North American and European servers. If you pick a server all of your WvW play can only be on the server you chose at the start. You can quest as a guest on other servers for the pve content but not WvW.

I guess we will take an European home server. Due the baby, we won't be that much online at American evenings. But its no problem to join a guild on a different server at least that works at the last BWE.

From what I understand no mater which server is chosen we can do all of the pve content together using the guest system.

1. every character of your account can be in a different guild.

2. ingame you see at once all guild roosters of all the guilds at least one of your characters is in.

3. the actions of your character generate "influence" only for the guild this character is in ("influence" is needed to upgrade guilds, somewhat similar to the guild hall NPCs of Guild Wars 1 which you just bought with ingame gold).

4. your account with all your characters is on one "home server".

5. you can go to another server as "guest" where you can play PvE and (arena style) PvP but not WvWvW-PvP (persistent, with castle sieges and all the epic stuff and masses of players). Doing so is free of charge but requires a logout+relogin.

6. you can switch your "home server". Doing so costs gems = $$$ = €€€. The price depends on how populated the server is. If ArenaNet is veeeeeeeeeeery generous they might grant a short grace period in which home server switches are free. They did so in the first half of the third-and-last beta weekend.

7. I assume (don't take it for granted) that they will release a list of home servers right before the release. I highly suggest to decide for one home server and spread that information here in the forum so people don't end on different home servers. Guesting might be working but it's an unnecessary hassle in my opinion.

8. hexe and me don't know yet which server to choose (she wants to go Euro-English and I want to go Euro-German where most of our German Guild Wars 1 friends will probably go) but as soon we have a decision we'll spread the outcome here.

That's a partial list of where everyone is going, so it looks like we'd be on with the big Penny Arcade guild. Jade Quarry has DAOC and WAR vets, so the PvP (and the dysfunction) will be good on that one.
