Hosted Multi-Class Session: Saturday

As I said in another thread, I thought it would be a good idea to host a session with a variety of cars since nobody is doing a lot of serious racing during week 7/13. We've done this before in a week 13 and it was good fun that time and we even learned quite a bit about multi-class racing.

Everything is open to discussion but here is my idea:

Date:
Saturday, 13 December
Time: 22.00 - 00:00 GMT (14:00 - 16:00 PST ; 23:00 - 01:00 CET)
Track: Probably one of the free ones, or a good one that everybody has. My preference for one of the free tracks goes to Laguna Seca.
Cars: We can have 5 cars, each in their own class. I was thinking of the following:
* Holden V8 (I don't know how many people would want to drive a V8 but only have the Ford),
* Ruf C-spec
* GT3 car (McLaren/BMW?)
* Something fast (HPD / Corvette / Star mazda?)
* Something slow (Skippy / MX-5 / SRF / Slowstice?)
Format: Practice only, solo driving

Please let me know if you would be interested or not and any suggestions are welcome.

The session would be open to the public. The goal is to have fun but that shouldn't mean chaos. So any grieving will be penisnalized.

I'm interested but when you diversify the classes this much, you run the risk of missing drivers completely. For example, if I drove the Ford GT, and currently do drive the Ford V8SC... I'd be withheld from my preferred classes and stuck to drive something I'd rather not like the Mx-5 or the C-spec.

My suggestion would be less classes, as low as 2. Even between the V8SCs and the GT3 we'd have issues which really blows. A GT3 / Star Mazda mix up could be cool. I like the idea though and will be on sometime during my afternoon (your evening)

It is your session though and I'd still have fun driving anything in this crazy mixed class practice.

I don't understand how taking less classes would decrease that problem. If you take less cars you have more chance that somebody can't use their favorite car right?

In any case, it's not possibly as far as I know to have multiple classes with multiple cars in one class (such as GT3 in one class and Star Mazda in a different one).

You know what I mean with the GT3 cars + the Star Mazda. Not necessarily the same class.... doesn't even matter, its just a practice.

But considering everyone for sure drives a GT3 car, having the four (vs 1) ensures everyone will for sure have a car they drive regularly. Either way though I'm game for it, a 5 totally different class mix-up could be crazy fun.

Ah yes, I believe you've got a point there, but I'm trying to create something totally different from many of the regular hosted sessions consisting of only the GT3 cars for example. The combinations might not work perfectly together but that's pretty much the idea: a car could screech past you on the straight and then turn into a block of concrete in the next hairpin; how will you deal with it? :).

I'm in :) I have the Ruf so I'll jump in that. Great idea!

I don't like the sound of being penisnalized tho :icon_eek:

That was a lot of fun! We need to do more of those. Sorry I could not get on comms... I was supposed to be cleaning the entire time because we'er having guests over soon. You didn't want to hear fiance aggro. :p

Ah alright, no problem.

It was an interesting session indeed. Surprised to see so many randoms joining as well, and if you ignore the corkscrew section then the chaos was not too bad either :)
