Tonight's B2O Blancpain Sprint Series race takes us to Road America, Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin! Don't confuse this track with 'Road Atlanta' in Brasselton, Georgia! Elkhart Lake had been the host of SCCA (Sports Car Club of America) races, starting in 1950, using public roads through, and around, the city. However, these races only lasted three years. In 1952, the U.S. government banned any organized race events from being held on public roads, after an accident, at Watkins Glen's street circuit, killed a 7-year-old spectator. Clif Tufte, a highway engineer, bought 525 acres of farmland in an attempt to create a track that kept racing in Ekhart. Contruction was completed in 1955, and that same year it hosted it's first SCCA national event. Starting in 1956, the track has hosted an SCCA Regional race every year in June, and, for a long time, hosted the SCCA National Run-off's at the end of the year. It has also played host to Can-Am, Trans-Am, and CART. Today, it remains a yearly stop for big series such as Indycar, MotoAmerica Championship Series, IMSA's Weather Tech Sports Car Championship, Pirelli World Challenge, and NASCAR's Nationwide series. This 14-turn 4.05 mile (6.12 km) track, located between Eklhart Lake and Plymouth, WI, utilizes the 'Kettle Moraine's natural terrain and boasts long straights and some fast, but not all flat out, corners.

Some things to keep in mind for the new season:
  • Car Selection: You have from Week 1 to Week 4 to run different cars, and see which car you plan to run for the season! Starting Week 5; you must commit to one car, and you will only score points in THAT car for the rest of the season. After Week 5, you are allowed to change your car at any time in the season, but you will forfeit any points scored in a race not completed in your Week 5 car.
  • Track Selection: B2O Blancpain Sprint Series attempts to follow the official iRacing Blancpain Sprint Series for its seasonal schedule. However, we may hold a poll offering to change the layout/track pending the following conditions:
    • We want to encourage close and competitive racing, so we may offer a shorter version of a race track to keep the cars closer together. ie, if the official series is at "Suzuka - Grand Prix" Layout, we may offer the choice to run the "Suzuka - East" or "Suzuka - West" layouts to keep the cars closer together.
    • Some tracks bomb with a large portion of the community, so we may fall back on a community favorite if no one wants to run the track that the Official iRacing BSS is running
    • IMPORTANT: The Official iRacing BSS track of that week will ALWAYS be the Default track for the B2O Blancpain Sprint Series, it will ALWAYS be included as Choice #1 in the poll.

I think I'll crank up the Traction Control to full tonight to see if I can keep the car beneath me.

I may just drive the entire track in third gear to ensure I don't go fast enough to run off.....
You got nothing to worry about, you're a frickin' alien this week. All you need to do is stop driving like a nub and you'll easily finish podium both races.
