Bioware has released an official launch trailer for Mass Effect 3. For those of you waiting to get it such as I, it really does make Mass Effect 3 look to be the most epic of all.

I've just played the demo on xbox today. There's no going back for me now I'm afraid heh.

My daughter keeps telling me to try the demo but I thought I'd wait and play the game instead.

Is the demo as good as I've heard?

Well, the gameplay is very much like ME2, as in almost identical. That's a good thing though. The cutscenes are a lot more extensive, you can tell there has been put more effort in the storytelling. The game already looks awesome on xbox, and the environments seem to be larger and have stunning views.
It looks like battles will be more epic, there's more enemies in a wave, and heavier too, and there's more room for tactics, I feel like flanking is a lot more valid tactic then in ME2, there's more room for it and the AI behaviour lends itself for it too. For the tougher enemies it's almost required to flank. I feel in ME2 I could get through the whole game by sitting at the first available cover and then shoot everyone from there. Now the AI seems to advance and move around more, so there seems to be a need to be more agile and tactical.

The whole thing feels polished to a shine, not sure if you'd consider the demo as spoilers. The first mission is 80% narrative, but doesn't give much more away then what we already know what the game will be about, and the second mission is a mission from later in the game, it's not very long but sweet, 95% battle and doesn't contain any main storyline spoilers.

Here's another trailer which really impressed me:

Soo, did you play the demo, or have you already bought the game?

I could buy it today already, as a toystore had it up early, but I went to my favorite gamestore instead and asked them for it. They couldn't sell it before tomorrow, but to keep me tied to their store the guy behind the counter put a copy aside for me and included a pre-order dlc card with it if I bought it at his store tomorrow, so tomorrow it is for me :)

I haven't picked it up yet because I've been tied up working really long hours so I haven't made it to the store yet. I plan on picking up the Collectors Edition as well so hopefully they have stock remaining by Friday/Saturday.

I did play through the demo twice and found it to be quite good. I'm still not happy about the ducking behind cover thing and then double tapping to jump over but maybe I'm doing it wrong; I didn't invest enough time to find out.

I totally agree about the changes in AI behaviour though. They do seem to flank more and take cover as well. I also liked the addition of static armored turrets because they really upped the difficulty level, especially if you couldn't kill the Engineer keeping it alive.

I only played the Quick Play Options so I have no idea about the RPG elements in the game but I heard you could play either Quick, Quick/RPG or Full RPG so I'm sure therer is plenty of options for everyone.

It took a bit to get used to, but I like the fact they tightened up the targeting system. You have to get a crosshair on the enemy to use either yours or your squads special powers so it means taking more time to get on target which makes the battles a bit tougher.

Combat was always too easy in ME2, in ME3 (demo anyway) it feels tighter, more intense and slightly more difficult so I like the changes so far.

I'll let you know the moment I pick it up because I hear that if we play a bit online it will benefit our Single Player experience as well.

Well I couldn't find a single Collectors Edition in the usual places, there all sold out locally so I'm digital downloading right now from Origin.

Judging by my dl speed, it should be ready to install a week or so before Mass Effect 4 is released.

LMAO

Got my game this morning, only managed to find the time to get it installed and put in the DLC codes. Got it on xbox btw, so it will be hard to multiplay with you heh. Just put my son in bed, my wife is working evening shift, so I'm ready to go play it like, now!

I'm so jealous. I got up early and installed ME3 before work today. I imported Shepard from ME2, made some changes to her face to make her look less like a bull dike, loaded the first level and now she looks like Sam the Eagle.

How do you like the disc swapping, Shilka?
It's not too bad actually, but it's the most I ever done on a game on xbox. It only needs to be done when doing a main mission, but running around at the citadel and the ship and doing planetary scanning can be done from both discs.

Since I do lots of scanning, I always check out my complete ship after a mission and also run around the entire citadel again I don't get to swap a disc more often then once a evening. At least I don't have the collectors edition metal casing. I've read the discs are so firmly clamped to the metal that some people have cracked their discs and even snapped them in two trying to remove the cd from the casing. Not good when you need to swap regularly...
