Tinkers Construct test this weekend

Doc

Core
Howdy all,

I've been trying to get a stable version of tinkers construct working on the server. Until later in the day I'd thought I had a pretty stable build. The server would restart and stay online.

However, after enabling the Tconstruct and Mantle mods on the client side, I would get kicked a few minutes later from the game.

If anyone is up for testing this weekend, either as soon as tomorrow or Sunday, let me know.

Well, for some reason I can get on the server fine, but after hours of troubleshooting, doc can't though he has exact the same files as me. Go figure.
I hope you can get it to work doc! Keep us updated :)

Make sure your jarmods folder has the required forge version in it.

Is the server running with tconstruct still?

yeah, its still running with that.

I don't understand, he went all the way, even freshly reinstalled everything up to the point where all his files are an exact match of mine, yet I can get in fine, and he gets disconnected straight away...

What errors do you get Doc?
The console should be giving you at least some hints as to why it crashes/dc's

Per atlauncher logs it appears an exception is being thrown with the result being a Java 1154 output.

I was able to find a couple of posts where others were getting the same error and suddenly being kicked seconds after logging in. One solution was to delete the usernamecache.json and usercache.json located in atlaunchers instance folder. However, neither myself nor Shilka have those files.

Another solution was adding atlauncher on the clients virus software, but I'm only using windoze firewall and that is a non issue.

Shilka and I verified we have the same mods, version for version. I've reinstalled Java, and atlauncher. Reinstalled new instances. Rebooted multiple times to no avail. Turned render distance down. Pretty much everything Shilka and could think of just short of clicking my heels three times.

Try starting the game in singleplayer to see if that works.

If it does, try renaming your player profile on the server so it generates a new one.

Yeah, that was what I was thinking too, either try joining by a new profile, or; is it possible you have something in your inventory from those mods that quick gave you, a recipy book or something. Just thought we hadn't tried adding those mods back yet. Or perhaps you got some metadata blocks in your inventory, so you need to activate your recourcepack before trying to join?

The java 1154 output thingy in the log I get as well when I disconnect, so that's more of a result of leaving the server, not the cause I suppose? I get that error everytime when I leave the server.

other then that I'm out of ideas...

Not trying to sound like a complete noob here, but you may have help me on this one Quick. Are you talking about deleting the player.dat file and letting it rebuild on server restart?

Quick said something in teamspeak about if you check out the server files, it has seperate folders for each player that joined the server, so you should only try deleting the one with your name on it. He can probably explain better himself, but he's in I-racing currently.

I think I know what he's talking about. On another note, I did find the usernamecache and usercache.json files. They're on the server in the root directory.

yea I'm on the twitch feed watching. I saw the files earlier and am trying to locate them again.

It seems to be the right direction you're looking in.
If you open the file and just rename your username in there to something else you should be able to spawn in again

Got a little ahead of ya Quick. Rather than rename my account name in the file, I deleted the file instead. Assuming it should rebuild a new one on next log in attempt (hence its a json file). If not, I do have a back up of it as well.

Unfortunately I'm still looking down the barrel of about 8 more hours until I get home to see if it works. ;)

**update** I won't be one of those guys that says I finally got it workng and then leaves the forum with no explanation.

For future reference: I deleted my player file, player.dat file and the usernamecache.json/usercache.json files on the server.

Quick made a good point about rendering entities can cause issues. Which reminded me that I was looking through all the new Tinker Construct items before this whole crazy thing happened. So just an fyi.
