Your Top speed in Elite: Dangerous

I got a mission to haul some scrap to some obscure station in deep space.

Little did I know it was 230,500LS from the nav point...

Time to put the Cobra through it's paces, I got up to x712 the speed of light before I had to get off the gas and start slowing down... still over 100k Light seconds away :icon_eek:

The sheer scale of ED is staggering at times if you try and wrap your head around those numbers...

How fast have you managed to get your bird to fly on your way to a destination? :icon_cool:

Re: Top speed?

I went 1030 c once heh, was to get rare trading commodities that were around 540.000 Ls from the main star.

One consolation, there is actually a station in the game somewhere that is so many Ls from its primary star it stands at 0.22 LY !!! Do that in supercruise :p

That sounds like the one yeah. lets make it our home base :D
Err... how about no lol

I'm just on my way to Dugan Port and that is 350k+ LS... I'm going there to check it out as it's Aisling Duval's favourite place to hang out.

I'm still at Lord rank in the Imperial Navy, one more to get to Baron and be able to finally get that Clipper :D

EDIT: 850c and now slowing... :p

Damn, how long would it take you to get there? Has anyone actually been there yet?

Plenty of CMDR's have tried it. It's in the Alpha Centauri system I believe (off the top of my head). I have no idea how long it takes but it's going to be a long one that's for sure

There's already clothing companies out there that are selling "I went to Hutton Orbital and all I got was this lousy T-Shirt" tops lol

The main problem is is that you don't keep accelerating, you peak out at 2001 c (ooh, easter egg speed), btw, reaching 2001 c takes 57 minutes. At 2001 c you cover 1 lightyear in 4 hours, 22 minutes and 51 seconds. So at top speed the 0.22 LY should take you an hour, but you take much, much more time because of the acceleration and deceleration. It is doable though, if you dedicate an evening to it....

You can shorten travel time on long trips by getting rid of your target lock when you start to decelerate. You won't slow down then so early (unless you get masslocked by something), but if you re-establish your lock too late you risk overshooting by many thousands of Ls...
