Wheel suggestions?

I picked up Project Cars, Assetto Corsa & DiRT Rally during the Steam Black Friday weekend sale. Currently using a controller but I can see a wheel is a good investment. Looking for a wheel that's kinda simple(no need for pedals or a stick at this time) & not to expensive(under 200 dollars) & I must be able to perform most, if not all, of the in-game race functions from the wheel. Bonus points if I can purchase thru Amazon. Anyone got any suggestions?

I'd try and find a G27. You should be able to find one still for around 200 and it's the best wheel for the money. Tons of support for every game, great driver support, and it has great product life.

I personally wouldn't go for a used one though.

Do you have pedals??

The Logitech Driving Force GT might be a good fit for you... one of it's cons is there's no shifter and the pedals do not feature a clutch. Sounds like you don't need pedals for whatever reason. I personally don't use the shifter and almost never use the clutch (the cars I drive in iRacing shift without a clutch using a manual sequential, so need for clutch or cutting gas, as this is automatic)

Quite a few of us, as myself have the Logitech G27. Pretty good wheel for any user, whether you're a starter or a bit more pro. You'll get the complete package with pedals and stick though, but those might come in handy when you're getting the hang of it. Although, I don't think they even sell wheels without pedals?
EDIT: Not too bad on the price: http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-941-000045-G27-Racing-Wheel/dp/B001NT9TK4

Be carefull though. I've heard stories of people getting strangled by their G27.

You're so lucky Duke didn't highlight that!

Best wheel for the money I'll have to agree with all these guys. I bought a used g27 and have owned a DFGT. G27 is the best medium range wheel I can think of plus nearly every game that has an option for a wheel supports the g27. Pretty simple plug and play too.

Sidenote for Dirt Rally I use 300 degrees rotation. If it ends up feeling to twitchy for you can adjust in the Logitech Profiler.

lol Wappy. Absolute classic.

I have owned both a Logitech G27 and a Driving Force GT.

I can honestly say I don't miss the G27. The G27 was quieter in operation, but this has not been an issue for me as I use headphones and it's just not generally an issue. The clutch pedal and shifter is nice, and it does have it's place for certain games, but I have never missed them. The Driving Force GT does have a sequential shifter attached to the wheel base, and it is very handy in Dirt Rally as it acts as a handbrake (assign handbrake to button 13 - pulling the shifter towards you). It is, of course much cheaper too.

Logitech have released a couple of new wheels recently which are the next version for the G27, the PS4 version being the most useful for a PC player. The only advantage of this over the G27 is extra buttons and a dial on the wheel (like the DFGT) and a better brake pedal over the G27's. The shifter must be purchased separately or bought in a bundle - or you can buy a used G27 shifter and it will work no problem.

Overall, for someone just getting into it I'd say a DFGT is your best bet, if you really get into it then I'd skip the Logitech equipment and go full on Thrustmaster imo.

I hope you enjoy the games, AC is a full on sim, very realistic handling model. PC is drop dead gorgeous, and really comes into it's own with a wheel and pedals, but it will always be more to the arcade style of handling.

Dirt Rally is just awesome. The handling in that is spot on and is a joy to slide the cars around with a wheel and pedals.

Let us know what you get :)

I got a G27 too and after a year of abuse, brake pedal has started to show signs of wear. I've cleaned it regularly, so not sure if it's dust or actual wear causing issues. Otherwise, best bang for buck.

I'm going to echo pretty much what everyone else has said here and support the G27. It's a very solid piece of equipment that just feels good, is very responsive and smooth.

The only thing I had issue with was getting accustomed to the stiffer brake pedal but that only took a few days to acclimate to.

The only complaint I have about the G27 is the wire management from the wheel unit itself. It's simply slotted at the wheel base to allow the wires to run from the wheel to shifter to USB and it's a horrible system.

It would have been much better if the recesses were a bit deeper and there was a flap or something you could close over them to lock the wires in. If you have to move your wheel regularly you'll continually have to pop these wires back in.

It's not a deal breaker but it is a bit of a nuisance. I suppose one could use tape but that will wear out quickly and leave goo in place of it lol.

Yep, haven't regretted buying my G27 at all, even wish I bought it sooner now. I am using the shifter, clutch and every single button on it extensively though, especially while playing Euro Truck sim. If you think you'll never use the clutch and shifter, ever, not even in possible future games, then go for the driving force GT as others have mentioned :)
