i dont use any HUD-element's a long time. usually number of gear can see on top board inside car. also sound and visual speed. and need carefully listen co-driver before the start, if you start too early, u will dont know about penalty (at first) :D

for more realism im highly recommend to use MoreCarMovement mod (i think u will feel car better)

Thought the setups weren't going to be fixed? :p Either way I'm having a blast doing something besides pointless career races. I didn't check in here first and did the first 8 stages with HUD, but if it helps I end up not paying attention to my co driver or visual callouts half the time because I'm ADD, apparently even when I'm trying to drive through a forest at speeds up to around 100 MPH. Also never used the progress bar in the first place because it's too far off to the side of the screen for me to possibly bother looking at it.

Oh, and RIP IronDiggy.

Just went and finished the rest of the stages with a total of 86 minutes. Words cannot describe the amount of snow I ate in the last 4 stages, especially the very last one with the snowing/night combination.

3rd post in a row because I was trying to find out where I got this mod from and couldn't remember until now. LOVELOVELOVE the mod recommendation and can't ever go back to playing without it, it's so much better than vanilla.

Nice. I'm planning on doing this tonight, I'll run it with this mod too, if you both recommend it that's good enough for me to try it out :)

Fixed setups and default crew stats :(

But yea I broke myself on like the 3rd stage and just retired at that point. Stupid night stage started with me smashing all my headlights within the first 30 seconds then effectively murdering my car for the next 4-5 mins trying to feel my way around the stage and going to fast.

Ouch. I did not see any settings for forcing fixed or default crews. In the end I think it's better for balance but if everyone prefers not defaults we can change it(i assume)

Bad luck iron.

Looking at the league info, custom setups is something you enable, which it isn't enabled. I like it for simplicity's sake, although if we do enable it, waiting until next season would be nice since I already ran all my stages with the fixed setup :p

Also, I'm not the biggest fan of running one event with a bunch of stages, mainly after seeing what happened to Iron. If you crash out, you're out for that entire season which kind of blows. With the holiday's this format makes sense I suppose but it would be nice to see it go back to the traditional style eventually.

Also not sure if you meant to have such an underpowered crew but a good bit of my car was at 20-50% damage (As in only 50-80% was remaining) by the end of all the stages. It can make for a good challenge that way but if you bin your car pretty hard it's going to be almost impossible to recover with that weak of a crew.

I like the fairness of fixed setups definitely. And of course, you need to balance speed with actually making it to the end of the stage/rally, that's what makes it so interesting :)

It's not about who's fastest, more about who's fastest AND careful enough to make it to the end. Balancing the need for speed and caution is what makes this so much fun... and rewarding when you do get to the end.

Unlucky ID, there's always next time, and this time slow down a bit :p

Is that on the steam workshop? What's it do? Link doesn't work for me.
It appears to give you more feedback with what the car is doing. I haven't tried it yet so can't tell you if it helps or hinders at this point ;)

It's not on the Steam Workshop, I think that's just for setups and control settings to be shared.

To install it you just drag and drop a folder into your install location and overwrite some stuff. It also includes the vanilla files in case you ever want to revert.

Yea I was being dumb. I shoulda at least warmed up a bit. I've been running a ton of group B stuff recently and I keep getting caught out being dumb by the group a cars.

Don't worry I'll be doing it without practicing too so will join you in the drivers bar after having retired after the second stage probably

Ok guys. After I ran a couple stages, even though I did well... there's no way I can even come close to getting all the repairs done. I chalk this one up as impossible. 30 min repair times (I can't set it to anything but) with default crews is stupid.

Codemasters kinda is buggy about setting these leagues up. They enabled a bunch of cool features but we can't even access them. I cannot enable career engineers at the moment, nor many other features.

Update: To get around this for now I will remake the season splitting up the locations into different events. These will be short events that will last 1 week. So make sure your races in. only 4 stages per event.

Still, this means you need to be extra careful, as at the beginning of the third stage you will barely get to repair anything. So this is a very endurance-oriented rally.

UPDATE AGAIN:

Season is back up. Almost all the same tracks. Split up into 4 events, which are roughly a week long. (Pay attention to dates. I'll try and post on here when we get to the next event as a reminder). This will help alleviate repairs, as you'll start with a fresh car at the beginning of each event.

There are services areas every 1&3 stages... though the first service area is useless because you cannot setup and don't need to repair. So your only repair is at the beginning of the third.

Again, this is going to be an endurance rally, so better safe than sorry.
