Soloing the 24hrs for a good cause

GL HF, eat nothing but cheese and eggs for 3 days before the event and you'll be absolutely fine.
Haha I would die if I would only eat cheese and eggs I need my meat :D
Yeah the being up for 24hrs is going to be the hard part. Yeah I will be ofcourse in teamspeak all the time with you guys and my stream will also be running.

Yeah if I get to the point where I would risk other ppl's race I would go away and take a quick nap or something cause I am doing this for a good cause and not to prove somehting to myself like some other "oh-so-cool-wannabe" racers that are also trying to do the 24hrs of Daytona completely Solo.

But I have my strategy that worked already pretty good:

The week beofre stay up till 3-4am sleep till 6.45am wake up drink 1 coffee have a small light meal, warm up do a as log racestint as possible. Come down, do something else. (School?) at 12.00 eat small lunch (btw. drinking a large glass of water helps to feel less hungry) drink 1 coffee over the course of the next 4 hours. Do the stream practice atleast 2 fuel stints, have fun.

On the Friday before the race go to bed at the end of a movie of your choice. Stay in bed and try to fall asleep even though you cant.

Stand up when you wake up on Saturday. ( Stand Up morning? Drink 2 coffee's before and after midday. Stand up midday? Drink 1 coffee before 2pm and get a 2nd one ready before the start of the race. At around 4pm 1 more coffee)

Through the night of Sat and Sun drink Red Bull whenever you start to feel so tired that the concentration fades slowly away also ask yourself when being in the pit how you feel right now and if you think that you can make this whole next stint. (oh and btw dont forget to be really good hydrated and EAT! <- most important thing right now at this time about Endurance Races like that always ahve atleast 1 Energy Bar in your belly and 1 lying beside you ready to eat.)

Once its past 7am you can switch again back to coffee but at that point you ahve so much coffein in your body that you will stay awake now anyway msot important thing now: Being Hydrated! If you are past the 16hour mark of a race there is no return from the being-tired-land. No matter how well you were rested how much coffee you ahve in your blood you are so tired that nothing is gonna help now. Just eat those last few Energy Bars and stay as hydrated as possible. (You can also mix your water up with 2 or 3 bottles of Gatorade Powerade or whatever energydrink you prefer <-- can sometimes perform miracles)

And there you go. You are now past the 20hour mark. Still feeling good? then Push most other racers didnt prepare for this as good as you did. Feeling tired? just stay safe dont take too much risk just bring this beauty home BABY!!!

Oh and btw. for you guys that are racing it in the team: Seriously if you gotta race at an odd time for you then get atleast 1-2 Energy Bars or a Energy Drink as said above they can perform miracles!

I have been on both sides of the scale already at the end of an event. I ahve been on the push like hell and gain alot of spots as well as just try to survive and bring it home BABY!!! side of this scale.

But I am pretty confident about this race. I never had such a good setup for a 24hr race before, also never had that much info on my fuel usage and the tyres (shoutout to John for racing a whole stint with my setup).
I only ahve 1 worry..... the pit exit. I have seen too many cars already (including myself) that took a too sharp T1 and because of that ending on the inside of the pitexit wall.... (nor I want to get taken out when exiting pits by such a car)

Good luck dude, I just popped in to say hi and I'll donate too :) Be back later to check in and see how you are doing!

well #WasFunWhileItLasted ...

had a Lap 5 incident with a divebombing RUF was able to carry on at the first pistop we had some good 27mins of repair... Dead last in 21st 1 Lap behind everybody else and 2 Laps behind 1st of GTs (5 behind 1st Overall) had after that 5 great stints with some minor repairs here and there (all in all in those 5 stints probably 1min).
Went from 21st to 4th with a difference of 2 Laps to 5th and 1Lap to 3rd.

7th Stint came around. Came out of Pit Road behind 1st of GT3 cars (now 3 Laps down) but I was faster than him so I decided to stay behind and save the shit out of my fuel ( Was able to save 2 Laps behind him) He went in for something to drink and new shoes for his car. I decided that I will save some more fuel and maybe get a 3rd Lap out of that stint...

With 2 Laps to go a little mishap happened... Out of the Bus Stop I did put the right side tyres on the grass which unsetteled the car abit and the bump after the curb did the rest of the job... 31mins of repair.

Now the car was 5-4secs off pace. 8 Laps down on everybody else in 14th position.
The 8th stint did go over with no incidents at all.
We were now nearly at half way point and I did set my indicator for the pit entrance.

The other guys were at this point 7th full in their race. At this point I had to mute them cause I needed some time to think about this race, the situation etc. Once again nothing happened except for last lap where I slightly kissed the wall. Had some steering wheel damage (15mins repair)

10th stint began with a break of 25mins. (to think, to eat, to shit, to drink, to piss) I was running good again. I was now only 3-2 secs off pace cause I attack more into the turns. And once again I was trying to save as much fuel as possible. (was about 25kph now off pace, which meant: "6th gear? Whats that? Send me a Link.") And then suddenly 10 Laps into the stint the engine did blow up the second I lifted before T1.... ( Looked back at the replay and the engine was running in every aspect in the "green zone") well I did limp back the car into pits had 42 mins of repair time. Did play some Rocket League with viewers in the meantime...

11th stint began with same expectations as 10th save fuel and race it home for the kids. But once again the engine blew up within 10 Laps of the beginning of the stint...... So I sadly had to call it the end of my race.

All-in-all I did get 100$ of donations so I am more than happy with that outcome of the race. I had some good fun while it lasted. This is ofcourse not gonna stop me cause I love Endurance Racing and hey next year there is again a Daytona 24hrs ;)

Too bad that you didn't manage to finish but the effort alone is still incredible. There are only a few that would even attempt a solo run like this.

Indeed.. Great job. Maybe you'll eye doing again? Honestly after being awake for exactly 24 hours... Woke up for the race at 7am Sat and went to bed after my last stint Sunday at exactly 7 am, I cannot even fathom driving even half that duration alone.

I also have always had the issue that I cannot nap. So it was incredibly tough for me. Everyone loves their power nap but any sleep outside my normal sleep time doesnt do a thing for me and most of the time makes me feel much worse.

Props Steve

Nice work Steve! It ain't easy driving that long.

Anyway, it was for a good cause, and your donation target was met so i'd be pretty proud of myself if i were you!
