iRacing Bathurst 12 hour hosted race

Well good news, I should have the new pedals by Wednesday, so I actually will be able to make it. I want to host some practices this week probably in the afternoon if anyone's interested. Most likely Thursday, and maybe we can do Wednesday too if we're willing to replace GT3 practice pals with Bathurst practice that night.

I can practice for a bit on Wednesday but Thursday is Elite: Dangerous for me so that days out. I may actually do some practice Friday night after League as well.

Hey there guys, finally got registered on the forums here.

I purchased the mountain earlier today and did a few hour's practice and have successfully completed a few clean laps in a row, so there's definitely a chance that I could learn enough consistency to manage a stint. I'd be willing to join in with any practice as I've got a lot of work to do before the weekend.

Also, good to hear about your pedals John. Glad you got that resolved, hopefully you can take part in this event.

Cheers fellas

Hey Chris,

Not sure what's worse, waiting this long to register on the forums or waiting this long before buying Bathurst :p.

We have 2 teams registered for the race and both of those are full I think, unless Ken and Quadroman are looking for more drivers.

I think we could definitely use another Kia driver, depends on what Ken thinks. 4 hours total of stints sounds a lot more appealing to me than 6.

Yup we're fine with another KIA Driver but we're really going to need to put our heads down and turn some laps this week.

I'm using a slightly modified version of the baseline setup and it feels very stable and quick around here. The first lap isn't nearly as bad on this set as the one Peeble shared with us in session (which I do not want to run).

I put in a number of nearly full fuel runs with decent pace actually. My setup actually helped me get around the track a full 1 - 1.5 faster without the dying part of the previous set.

The reason I never completed one without a wall strike was due to my incorrect tire pressure adjustments.

What tire pressures are you running on the Kia?

I also need to do a lot more practice this week. I was hoping we could maybe practice a bit tonight during Practice Pals. But if the majority wants to do Nürburgring GP, that's fine but at some point I'll probably jump out to practice in the C-Spec.

This was sent to the team representatives by the way:

Hello,
You are receiving this PM because you are the Team Representative for one or more entries in the Bathurst 12 Hour race occurring February 27th, 2016. This is an informational PM only and does not need to be replied to unless:

-You or someone on your team has questions
-Your team would like to withdraw their entry from the race

I will be hosting a practice session on February 20th beginning at 2200GMT and running for 4 hours. This session will be set-up for teams. The session will not have a password, so I recommend getting in their early. I will set the track state to roughly 10% less than it will be for the start of the session next weekend, so you can get a rough idea of what the track state will before the final practice, qualifying, and race. I will post the results (assuming iRacing’s website is cooperating and I can access them) in the Results post in the thread (third post down from the original I believe).

Here is some information and reminders your team should be thinking about leading up to the event next week.

1) The grid looks to be 100% full at this time, which means there can be no mistakes when joining the server. Please practice joining team sessions this week; ensure all of your members know how to join the correct team. One mistake resulting in an “extra team” by mistake could prevent another team from registering and racing. We do not want that to happen. I highly recommend designating one person on your team who will register the car itself and then have all other drivers join the team afterward, that way there is no confusion about who is supposed to register the actual car.
2) I am not sure if trading paints is still having issues or not with team paints; it seemed like TP was sort of working for the Daytona 24 but not entirely. If you have a paint scheme you would like everyone to see I recommend uploading the file in a reply in the race thread so other teams can download it and display it just in case TP is still having issues.
3) In the event iRacing has a server issue and the race is unable to run, please check the original thread for details on whether or not the race will be rescheduled.
4) Bathurst is a long, difficult track, this is a friendly reminder that a balanced set-up and keeping the car clean will likely help your team finish higher in the running. I recommend all of your drivers have a lot of practice before joining the race. The field is full of a lot of talented drivers so I expect the competition to be very close. Coming unprepared will affect your race and others’ races potentially.
5) If you have not looked over the original post in the thread recently please do so and have your drivers do so. Take some time to thank Just Fans of Sim Racing for providing the prizes as well as check out the certificate template I have uploaded for podium finishers.
6) If your team can no longer participate and would like to withdraw your entry, please let me know as soon as possible so I can add a waitlisted team to the grid and give them ample time to prepare for the event. There is no penalty for withdrawing your entry before the event, if fact I will appreciate your honesty and kindness toward the waitlisted teams allowing them a spot.

As an added plug, if you are interested in a much more relaxed and for fun event, please consider passing along the information and/or signing up for my Mobil "Fun" 1.2 Hours of Sebring which will take place on March 5th.

I look forward to seeing you all next weekend. Once again please reply to this if you have questions, need to switch car models in Class A (you cannot switch classes, just the car model your team will use), or if you need to withdraw your entry. Thank you.

Sincerely, Elliot Meme

I can't remember off the top of my head but after a long stint I was up to 220 kpa front and 230 rear.

Hey Duke, could you send me your set for the Kia? I worked on one earlier but I'm not sure what to do about the wheel or aero setup.

Thanks for posting the memo, Noel. If you don't mind, I'll let you handle all the secretarial duties. We should probably practice joining up as a team and driver changes if we can. You can handle registering the team on race day and I'll join after. I'll be joining you in any Bath practice you do as well as doing alot of my own. I have no issues with running Bathurst tonight instead of Nurb GP for practice pals. As long as everyone agrees. I know I.D. won't if he's going to be on. lol

So I was able to complete a full fuel run, with 68 Litres in the tank. It took about 44 minutes and 18 laps. The tyres degraded a lot over the course of the laps and my lap times did as well, by about two seconds.

Is the tyre wear due to my driving here? Because it seems as though the tyres can only last around 50 or 60 litres. I don't know how much pace you need to sacrifice for the tyres..

Will do more practice tomorrow (As in Tuesday) if anyone is interested. I'll put up a hosted session at some point, probably going to spend the rest of my iRacing time this week getting some much neglected practice.

I'm pretty sure the tyre wear is just from being FWD, the front tyres are going to fall off fast, especially during the uphill parts. Best thing you can do is just try to avoid turning the wheel too much during understeer to avoid scrubbing the tyres.
