iRacing 24h of Le Mans 2016

we still need to vote right? some voted 1.5 and some 1.8(modified 1.5) but 1.6/1.7 is something completely different.

we should also stop changing it and settling on 1 setup so we can get extra practice in that if needed.

That sounds right Sam. Mainly, everyone is taking some version and modifying it and applying a version number. We haven't set down an actual set to use, everyone is still trying to make the perfect set.

That said, for future set-naming convention, we should use the same version #, only incremented, if based on a previous set.

For example,
Noel's set version got up to version 1.5. I modified it slightly and SHOULD have named it 1.51.
Pablo's set was a completely different set and should've been a 2.0. It's 1.6. Noel liked his set and modified it slightly which is 1.7

----
Anyway 1.8 is the 1.5 set with front high speed compression and rebound the same as 1.7. I'm ok with most of these sets... the 1.7 set is pretty stable at first but gets scary after 1-2 laps and as mentioned, it leaves me scratching my head in the middle of low speed corners. Feels better under braking.

1.5 feels good and am pretty used to it. 1.8 i can't decide if its better yet. maybe someone else felt a big difference?

i'm used to 1.5 but 1.8 feels similar so i would mind running it. but i feel like 1.5 is the way to go.

i wouldn't mind getting used to 1.7 if really needed but i'd rather not.
so my final vote is 1.5.

also, can someone walk me though getting the team car/suit with decals and stuff?
i'm apparently retarded, but i don't know what to do xD
i'll be on discord

I'll walk you through but you'll have to figure out the numbers. Because in the practice session you won't be using the proper team, so it won't work unless you use what team # you're practicing with.

I'm not sure if @Zac_Sonic has had time to update the driver suit, but if not, we'll use the one on TP. Right now I don't have the targa. You can get it off TP here: https://www.tradingpaints.com/showroom/view/71377/B2O-Blancpain-Red

Anyway, that targa, once downloaded, needs to be copied and renamed as suit_team_58577.tga
Obviously you won't be driving with that team in practice - so if you know your team # in practice, you can copy that targa again and change the # to that.
-Once done, right click each one, go to properties, and click "read only" so TP won't overwrite them.
-These go in your root paints folder (so documents / iracing / paints )

For the car paint, it goes the same for team # and which team you use in practice, etc. You can find the paint earlier in the thread.
-Place in your aston martin folder (iracing / paints / Aston)
-Rename to: car_team_decal_58577.tga
-Copy and paste it there if you want your own team # there too, changing the team #
-right click each one, go to properties, and click "read only" so TP won't overwrite them.

Should work instantly.

To get the car paint on your personal team on TP, you need to upload it. When you upload a car paint, by default it shows the same thumbnail for every team you're on below it. So if you scroll down it looks like you're using that paint for each team. This is not correct. For the team in question, you need to click the gear icon, select "Choose team paint" and upload the paint you want to use.

Feel free to ask questions.

Ok, let's go with 1.5 then. That seems to be the one everyone has the most practice on and I haven't heard many death screams associated with it yet.

Right now we're qualified with a 3:49.3, which puts us 8th currently (only 31 GT1s qualified so far). I might try to get this down to a 48.x later but it shouldn't be a big deal.

@Daunt i don't really care about my paint in the practice sessions i just want it set up for le mans.
couple of questions:
-58577 is our team #?
-where can i download the car and suit targa and are those the final versions?
-once i follow these steps, everyone(including me) can see the paint during the 24h?

Yes that is our team number. It is in the OP and you can find it (so long as you're on the team) on the teams page in iRacing.

The car paint is available in this post: http://bandofothersgaming.com/forum/threads/iracing-24h-of-le-mans-2016.3011/page-5#post-33245
The suit is on TP, as I linked before. You have to grab the targa by using it as your suit, then do a test session which will load it to your folder. When it downloads it to your folder, you then have the targa and you can rename it, etc and do as I said above.

As for the final versions, I don't know. @Duke made the paint and he made it sound like there might be another version coming to add names.

-once i follow these steps, everyone(including me) can see the paint during the 24h?
Yes and no. You will be able to see them, but you're loading them locally. No one will be able to see the team suit unless they load it locally and we can't change that. TP will take care of the car paint automatically (I've set it up) so everyone will see the team's car paint.

i think i did it. i can see both the suit and the car myself in a practice session. i guess we'll find out if others can see them in practice sessions.

i don't know if it worked for our team skins but i used the same process so it should.

Yep, there will be a newer version coming tonight or tomorrow, I can't guarantee which. This version will address the windshield B2O not conforming as well as the Driver Names.

For now just use the version already uploaded and I'll update when the paint is ready.

For any of you who have never raced with our endurance team, I usually ask for your help in cataloging events / highlights throughout the race for the highlight video. I have a google spreadsheet set up here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1ey7mkedLhFm3o2LRNSCCethEhuv4l3feb69CAP4VlYs/edit#gid=0 and you can also access it easily on the schedule sheet.

I just ask for your assistance in two things:
  • First, like I said, marking the highlight sheet with lap #, turn and the event (just a brief description). It's handy to put in extra info if you can but not necessary.
  • Second... be exciting! If you've seen my videos, the most exciting parts are given extra suspense when team mates are helping call out a crash, are in the moment helping spot, and more. It adds to everything tremendously.
And have fun!

Did everyone check Kyle's Race Schedule to ensure your names are spelled correctly? These will be copy/pasted to the vehicles because bad things happen when I have to retype stuff.

Just ask Marc, he's the one who noticed my spelling mistake in the word "ever"

I did already correct a mistake with Jes' name. He hasn't said anything about it being fixed yet, nor has the ingrate thanked me. Sheesh. :p
