Ok me and Wap have been on for a while. The base will look a bit different the next time you log on

Wap is concentrating on armour for us all, and I have built a furnace and we now have some Iron. Also built a carpenters bench, and a tannery. I've also made some additions to make the place feel... homely lol.

We desperately need some coal to light the place up at night, I can build bracketed torches but just need that coal.

Coming along nicely though!

I'm hoping you can get Quick into the Party. I really can't recall if Party Members can invite new players or if it's the Party Leader who does it?

I've read up a fair amount on the day/nigh cycle as it's a bit more complex than simply extending daytime and making it feel right. There is also a setting for dusk/dawn as well which is perfect as I think it will help artificially extend the night cycle without making the transition feel wonky.

The best part is that extending dawn/dusk gives us more hours to play in it's just lower light and the slower transition will allow us to find shelter if need be. This'll come in handy as both Nejt and I were caught out a few times venturing North when dark fell upon us.

I'm going to try extending the day cycle by .5 and the dusk/dawn cycle by .25 leaving the night as it is currently (approx. 5 minutes).

If you guys are ok with this I'd like to try this Saturday when you are on so I can get some good feedback on the matter.

I have to come into work for about an hour on Saturday but then I'll be on up until around 1:30 PM EST Saturday.

Quick has joined us back at base, I'm going to see if I can get him into the clan.

His arrival raised an important point though, he couldn't get in to the building because he isn't in the clan yet (just logging on to see if I can do that) but he could jump in through the open roof and have a rummage around.

Now, if Quick can do that (which is fine) that means anyone can do that. All our stuff = gone in a heartbeat.

I think we should build a roof

He can rummage around but he can't loot, store or destroy anything unless he's part of the Clan.

If he is able to then we can simply change this by adding a few lines of text to the Server.cfg file.

I haven't seen the new place yet but when I left there was a roof. I'd suggest roofing whatever you need and then put a door at the base of the steps leading to the interior of the building. If he's not part of the clan he shouldn't be able to enter buildings through windows or doors nor can he destroy any part of the building to gain entry iirc.

Nobody else is on the server so I wouldn't worry about it for now.

I'm pretty sure this can be changed in the .cfg but if not it actually works to our advantage.

The problem we have currently is someone has to be online to accept a new player into the Clan for them to benefit from our weapons and gear. The way it is currently alleviates that issue (which I prefer) as it will make it a lot easier for newbies to get to us.

Can you confirm whether or not he can enter the house through closed doors? If he cannot that's perfect as all we have to do to protect our loot is keep it behind locked doors, no biggie.

Nah we just need to add him to the clan. He can't get in or out of doors.

BUT, I think if people can see boxes through windows they can steal stuff. I was reading about it on the forum. So we should be careful

It's a new Server but I think you're still setup with Admin as I think that's bound to my account details, will have to check.

As for the looting crates placed near windows the easy fix is to not have windows wherever we place crates. The other fix is to keep all crates on the second floor (and up) as they are no longer reachable.

The only way this could be an issue is if you can loot crates while scaling the building which we'll have to test.

If the room is large enough we can also put the crates in the middle of the room so they are not eve reachable from the outside , all a bit of overkill I think though as we haven't had problems before with this ( especially as it is a pve server ) and if the worst does happen , we can magic the items back if something nice gets stolen before we can close any looting loopholes !
