I'm thinking about committing to the early start time for the iRSE 2023 season. I believe that is the 1am GMT start time (Green Flag - 8:40pm EST/5:40p PST). That would allow me to compete in 5-6 hour events without taking any time off work, and ensure that I would only need to take Saturday off for longer events, including 24-hour races which would end around 6pm PST Saturday instead of 6am PST Sunday. Having a 24-hour race end in the evening on Saturday would probably have more team members awake in the final hours, too. In the past, people have been sleeping in the final hours of the race, and that has made the final 4-5 stints the hardest part of the race as the laps tick by in silence before everyone shows up for the finish. Having the race end in the evening might bring more people around earlier? The final personal advantage would be the ability to run two races out of the 10 or 12-hour events. These races would now be shattering for most U.S.-based drivers, I would imagine, as they would create the same issues we currently have with 24-hour races (Races would end between 3am-5am PST, which cwould be awful to anyone not used to that schedule. However, for anyone in the EU, it might be a more favorable finishing time than 12 - 2am Sunday). Because I'm taking the day off of work, I like to get as much driving out of the day as possible, so I would be willing to accommodate either.

I know this is a very self-serving schedule, but I've had a lot of fun doing this with the last two 10-hour special events, and I thought I'd throw it out there and get others' opinions, specifically on the 24-hour events.

Personally, finishing at 12-2am on a Sunday is fine and would work as well. I'd probably fall to bed immediatly after, but that tends to happen for a 24h race regardless of start time.
In that scenario (provided at some US-based drivers are present at the start of the race), I'd probably prefer to sleep at the beginning of the race (since it will be the middle of the night over here) and then be around for the 'last' 16-18 hours of the race (or whatever is required).

This also works for me time wise, I am not fussed at all about the slot as long as it suits everyone that wants to run, if the Friday one works best then I too would rather take my stints a few hours in as there should be enough North American drivers around to cover the early stuff.
If one of the Saturday slots is chosen then I am good for whenever!
