Hello everybody!
This Tuesday we'll host an ARMA event at 2000 CET (check other timezone further down). I think most of us have ARMA3 Alpha by now and that means the mission for tonight will be some of the new MP missions made for ARMA3.
If anyone who wants to join us only have ARMA2 we'll start an ARMA2 mission instead. It's still some missions we haven't played yet ;)
Depending on how many is joining I'll try to find us a suitable mission for the event.

I also do requests if anyone have any suggestions for a mission...

If you want to join this event, let me know by typing a short message in this thread.

I'm on TS from 2000 CET.

And what about compromising security posting here in the open forums, where the enemy can read our poo? (that's plan of operations, d00kie, no reason to get all worked up :p)
You can look at this as a part of our electronic warfare strategy Wotan. I mean, how often have we followed our own poo exactly?

They're out already?
None of them are required for the mission so people can choose whether they want to use them or not. I will try to get them though, maybe through this PlaywithSIX that all the kids are talking about these days :icon_cheesygrin:
(I'll probably fail horribly and have to add them manually like in the good old days )

Thanks for pointing them out Wotan!

This was a suprisingly stable experience, with lots of action and drama. One server lockup at mission start and my bsod were the only problems we encountered, besides the sniper AI and lots of dieing. But the second part was to be expected, no?

Here's some screens from the event.
We tried a couple of different missions this time. Not all of them were finished and so certain triggers didn't work and so on but they provided good fun none the less.
My best experience this time was probably the raid on the port facility with Ogami as our TL.
Unfortunately I forgot to start FRAPS until much much later :(

Well, let's start with the most important changes in Arma3:
When you die you're no longer a crow, but a seagull!

The following screens are from the "skirmish" mission we started last. This is more a test ground with lots of stuff available than a mission in itself since it had no (apparent) goals or triggers. It provided lots of house to house combat though and was fun and at times very very frustrating because of the sometimes godlike AI.

Ogami, Wapwap and me checking out the available gear.

All houses in the town seemed to me to be enterable (is that a word? well, now it is anyway). You could sneak past the AI by going through houses but I also saw at least one AI opening a door and exiting a building as well so you could have company inside as well. This is a good improvement over Arma2 AI.

I found a good position in a store to ambush the AI...for a short while.

A beautiful and deadly place.

Another first in the series - mines! That's a lot of fun in a small packet :icon_cheesygrin:

As per usual the end moment turned into a blue on blue gunfight (this time with mines and traps!) and much gear was tested. Everything seemed to be working as advertised. The new inventory system in Arma3 takes a bit to get used to but offers great flexibility for mods and diverse gameplay.
For example, we had one incident on the port facility mission where the entire team were wounded and disabled except me. And I was not the medic so the mission seemed lost then and there. I walked over to Wapwap, our medic, grabbed a few medpacks from his backpack and with these in hand I could revive him and the others. I think this flexibility is fantastic and something that I've missed somewhat in earlier Armas.

It was a great first test of multiplayer in Arma3. As the host I think everything worked just as good as with Arma2 stability-wise.
Thanks for a great evening and a fun first time online in Arma3 guys!

Couldn't agree more :)
I hope they tone down the AI somewhat as they are really tough now. And when they suspect your position they throw everything they have your way (bullets, grenades and you name it) which is good. The AI in Arma3 are no longer just targets for us.
I also noticed that bullets now penetrate material and hiding behind a wooden shed is by no means safe anymore (as should be expected in RL).

Do I have to be ashamed that I've not been able to successfully finish the infantry showcase mission with enemy ai on 85 and friendly ai on 100? This is damned hard now ...

Not yet since the gunfights are much harder now when friend/foe is harder to distinguish and the AI enters a gun rage mode as soon as you're spotted :D
Survivability rise fast as you join a human team (aka. other targets for the AI to focus on).
I managed to stay alive quite some time on Tuesday, but trying that mission alone I'm dead at first contact with the enemy
