How to shoot in Battlefield 3

Hey guys, just a short video published on my alternate YouTube account that demonstrates how to properly shoot in Battlefield 3. I've personally struggled with my shooting in BF3 since day one and this video has really helped me bring it up a notch.

This video is the first in a series that aims at helping everyone drop players as quickly as possible with a minimal use of ammo.

The lesson is being taught by fellow TeamReddit Clan mate UL7RA.

...more to come.

Enjoy

That was actually really interesting, pointing out the burst fire, recoil compensation and head height was well done. But after he killed you so many times he should have let you pop a cap in his ass instead of suiciding... although a frantic teabag is a close second lol

One thing, do you guys play in Hardcore? I've never played BF3 on anything but Hardcore

No we don't play in Hardcore, most comp players don't even like Hardcore however some of the settings are similar.

We do keep the use of the minimap however we have have health regen off and friendly fire on.

There is also no 3d spotting or Death Cam.

Ok, whenever I play Vanilla it renders some of the guns completely useless... I'll have to give it a go again. I like the fact that in Hardcore when you get hit you're dead, bit more realistic for me. But seeing how quick you were going down there (ahem) it looks like that can be achieved in Vanilla too. Can you still take out a tank (without reactive armour) with one hit from a Javelin though? I could see the vehicles being overpowered otherwise... Sounds weird I know, but I literally have never played BF3 on anything but Hardcore so I have no idea how it plays...

The reason you go down in Hardcore faster is only due to the fact that you play with 60% of the normal health as you do in Vanilla BF. That is the only real difference between the two and as you can see by the video, you can be dropped just as quickly in Vanilla by someone who knows how to shoot.

Any tank driver not running reactive shouldn't be in a tank. Tanks were nerfed into oblivion several patches ago and it's become one of the most useless vehicles in the game when the other team controls the air. A tank can now be single strafed by any air vehicle and taken down with some well timed infantry anti-tank weaponry.

The way I understand it, a laser designated Tank can be one shot disabled provided the tank is hit on the top or the turret area (if the Tank is in Sprint). The turret area of the Tank is the equivalent of a head shot but again, it only does max damage if the Tank is in sprint and hit from the front which actually takes out the rear reactive.

Doing max damage to a Tank from the ground is a matter of hitting it at a 90 degree angle especially when up against reactive. Hitting the Tank at an angle does a much lesser degree of damage as the shells essentially bounce off the armor.

An interesting fact is that IFV's ignore reactive so that's why they always seem to kill Tanks so easily now. They beat the Tank in almost every category now so if you really like armor, get in an IFV, you're survivability will go through the roof.

Tanks are my favorite part of the game so I hate what Dice/EA have done to them. Personally, if our air is holding it's own then I have no problems getting into a Tank. If our air is completely ineffective, I won't go near a Tank and will opt for an IFV.

Nice video Dukie. And now the world knows why I like to use the A-91 :)
Ya I didn't know that bullpups were that effective in close quarters so now I know. It makes sense given your play style is to run in shooting.

For me I don't run in shooting as much as I used to so I require a regular assault rifle that does decent range damage and can give me a chance of surviving in close quarters.

I've also started to play a lot more medic too, depending on map of course. I've unlocked the M416 which i really dig, the reload time is much faster than the A-91 so that's a big plus. It's got more stopping power as well and works great with my style of play.

We'll have to play some CTF this weekend, I've been putting in some quality time fleeing the enemy with the flag. :)

Oh, and thanks for the tanking tips.

Yeah good tips on the tanks there, I didn't know that stuff, I didn't think they had gone into detail with hit points etc. and the IFV thing makes sense, I always seem to get taken out so quick in a tank to the point where it feels I'm piloting a humvee made out of recycled cardboard not a bloody great big combat tank! Maybe they should nerf the speed of the tank and up the armour? Then maybe they would be more useful...

You should check out the AUG as it's a bullpup too. Bullpups do have longer reload times though.

Nice vid dook.

I don't know the specs but my guess is there isn't a huge difference it Tank vs IFV speed but I can't say for sure as I've not looked at the real world figures?

I know Tanks can move bl00dy fast though so there speed is probably simulated pretty well ingame, not sure about IFV's though?

I don't think an IFV should be able to ignore reactive though and think it should not be able to disable a Tank with the normal rounds but should be able to with the armor piercing rounds.

There is no recharge delay in switching weapons in an IFV like they've integrated into Tanks which is the main reason that Tanks now lose. Previously you could switch seamlessly between primary and secondary in a Tank and fire immediately, you can't do that anymore unless the secondary is a machine gun.

Interesting stuff. I always preferred the burst-fire weapons, like the M4A1 and M16A4, myself. LMGs and sniper rifles are a different story, and, for me at least, are far more job-specific. The burst-fire rifles, though, always struck me as good all-rounders.
