Hey guys! I had a quick go of your setup and it feels really nice, the one I downloaded from here however only had 59 Litres of fuel, did I grab the wrong one? (V1 qually and Race) just thought i would mention in in case you were not running the entire 106 litres!
Sorry everyone, that's on me. Deb pointed it out last week but I've been so busy the last few days I haven't even put my wheel on it's base or started iRacing. I've driven it at full fuel, it still feels fine. I'll post the v2 with full fuel when I get home.
I'll be online tonight practicing from probably 5:30-6 pm PST onward. Plan is to get a few full stints in.
Little late to the party. I'd love to run it, but I've been switched to another schedule just an hour ago, which wrote off the weekend... Best of luck to those running.
@Brainling, have you tried Ken's set up? I really prefer it in the hot weather. I was able to stay in the 1:44s and the temp was 111 F. I was 9th in a field of 44 GTEs, so if you can try this setup and like it, I think we should use it. The turn in seems better to me, so you can more precisely place the car in the corners. @Kenadian, do you prefer this setup?
I do prefer this setup to @Brainling vcr but I don't want to force it on anyone.
I was really struggling with vcr in hot weather as it became horribly unstable and slow for me yet seems fine in cooler weather.
Typically when I struggle like this I'll either go back to baseline or find another set. This helps me determine if it's my driving style that requires changes.
I'll race whatever you both want as it is more about protecting the car than being quick.
I tried it. Haven't done a full stint. My immediate impression is that it's understeery in the medium-high speed stuff, like the penultimate corner, and it likes to break loose under any sort of progressive or trail braking. I can adapt to it, but it's not my favorite kind of driving style with this car. I'm outvoted 2/3 though, so if this is what we want to run I'll put a full stint in to it tonight.
You're not outvoted @Brainling, I'm a late addition to this Team and don't feel I should have a vote.
As I said, I do not want to upset the apple cart. I tried another setup because I'm not accustomed to driving the Porsche and I couldn't get it around track in higher temperatures.
@Skid_Marc_, I was using the new setup in the practice session with you (which was awesome fun btw!!!). The setup I'm referring to is the one I struggled with in Monday nights race.
I don't care when you joined the team, you're still part of it, and you're opinion still matters. I can adapt to this setup if you and Deb prefer it. I'm going to do a full fuel stint on it tonight and I'll play with the brake bias to see if I can dial out the snap I'm feeling when trailing the brakes in to some corners.
Great racing yesterday, guys!!!!! So much fun to run a shorter endurance race!!!! @Brainling and @Kenadian, great to be on your team, we started almost at the bottom and finished in the top ten, reasonably clean, no major repairs, great result, we had the right "strategy"!!! @Skid_Marc_ and @Nejtun, so glad you decided to race too, so fun with all of us in the same split You guys were so fast even with the aero handicap, great job!
Was a really fun race. Probably the most stressful opening stint I've ever driven. I think I was fender to fender, or dealing with a gaggle of cars, for the first 20 laps or so. Great driving from @Deb and @Kenadian.
