This event I want us to try out a new mission by TheOden:
co50 ISAF
Conduct a variety of missions as assigned to International Security Assistance Force.
Start in a base and expand over the map using MHQ's and "Train Travel" or parachute to move fast into action.
Expand available weapons in 3 levels by succeeding with the tasks.
Expect missions like:
- Rescue Captive from enemy units.
- CSAR for crew of downed aircraft.
- Eliminate bomb maker hiding in village.
- Disable mortar firing a civilians in town.
- Escort Convoy routed through hostile territory.
- Clear town from militias harrassing the population.
- Support Local Governor being attacked by armed men.

I think this mission will adjust to the number of players so it should work for us. As UN forces we'll probably operate with some unfamiliar weapons but I hope we'll have fun with these as well. It should be something different than earlier missions.

If you want to join this event, let me know by typing a short message in this thread.

I'm on TS from 2000 CET.

Once again Rolfy and Ogami stood up to the evil forces in this world and stepped into their ISAF uniforms to serve and protect (or shoot first and apologize later, as was the case for me this evening :icon_neutral:)
Teamleader: Leimboy
Medic: Rolfy
Sniper: Ogami Itto

Ogami started out as teamleader, but because the mission failed during loading for him the mission bugged later and I had to be the teamleader :(

Our first mission was to protect a local governor in a small town nearby. That mission ended rather quickly as he died even before we had prepared our loadout. Oh well, we can't save them all.
We were prepared when we got the next mission: A suspected bombmaker was observed in a village some distance away. We were to check this out and deactivate this bomberman. As ISAF we have all the best hardware available, so
we opted for this chopper to get us there.

What could possibly go wrong? Well, I didn't manage to stop the chopper fast enough so I accidentally flew over the town and probably alerted every insurgent in the area. We were under fire more or less immediately after landing.
Long story short: We managed to kill the bombmaker but it was a long and hard fight to convince him to die.

HQ called us again and wanted us to escort a convoy which was parked nearby. When we tried to enter the chopper to get back to base for a more suitable vehicle we discovered another feature of the mission. If you die you lose "skill" and you need this skill value to operate certain vehicles. Doh! We were stranded.
Luckily, Ogami was back at base and brought a Stryker our way. It was the MHQ version so it only had room for the driver and the gunner.
Rolfy jumped in as driver and I manned the gunner position. As the sniper, Ogami found himself a car and acted as mobile overwatch around our route.
Here we're meeting up with the convoy as they stand waiting for us.

I was expecting sudden ambushes from every corner of the few villages we passed through. There were lots of civilians in the streets and that made it harder to spot the occasional insurgent among them. Scanning the horizon I spotted a figure kneeling, clearly aiming at our convoy. I immediately opened fire. The first few rounds missed. Correcting aim and I fire again. Just as the rounds are in-flight to the target I hear Ogami on comms: "It's me!". Oooops!
Impact.
Ogami respawns at base...
Here's Ogami, looking like a scary insurgent to me...

Ogami grabbed a jeep at base and catched up to us again (the convoy was moving veeery slowly). Besides stopping an incoming speeding car with a friendly tap from my 50 cal. (okay, the car was a burning wreck but the civilian driver got away unharmed at least!)
We completed this task without any hostile ambushes or attacks of any kind. I suspect the enemy noticed our quick response to any threat and just decided to go home and wait for another opportunity... That's my version and I'm sticking to it!

After this we got more missions, like rescuing the crew of a crashed chopper and clearing out an insurgency infested village, disable a mortar nest (which Ogami took out single handedly with expert GMG fire!) and rescuing a captive from the evil hands of the enemy.
Here we've just rescued a couple of pilots of a crashed chopper. Rolfy quickly healed them up and we brought them safely back to base.

After many successful missions we decided to call it a night as the mission itself didn't seem to have an ending, it just pushed out new tasks for us.
The necer ending tasks and constant pressure turned out to be too much for Leimboy and he went into a killing spree. Though his valiant teammates tried their best to stop him he managed to do quite a bit of damage.
Our former rescued pilots were no longer safe as Leimboy went mental.

The funny thing was that the mission noticed this. Look at the message up in the right corner of the previous screenshot.
It reads:

We all concur

I think this was a really good and fun mission. The tasks themselves were varied and interesting and their locations and enemy forces around them were random as far as I could see. It also seemed to scale quite good with few players as it is designed for up to 50 players. Would be fun to try this mission again with more people around.

All in all it was once again a very fun and exciting evening. Thanks everyone!
