ARMA2 event 19.02.2013 - Roll Call

No specified mission for this event yet. We could try the mission from last time co50 ISAF, but this time set in Zargabad and see how that changes the dynamics of the tasks we're given.
As the mission adjusts the difficulty depending on how many we are it's easy for me to decide on that since no more brainpower is required ;)

I also do requests if anyone have other suggestions for a mission...

If you want to join this event, let me know by typing a short message in this thread.

I'm on TS from 2000 CET.

 @ Ogami
Feel free to join us any time Quicksilver! The more the merrier (and messier, usually ;))
It doesn't matter if you're a bit late either as we usually give a mission several tries during an event and if we have just started we can restart the mission so you can join (and some of the missions also have a working join-in-progress code so players can join any time).

We turned out to be a full team of cybersoldiers this event. That was pure greatness and thanks to Ninja-n00b and Quicksilver for joining us this event. Great fun!
I had some strange problems while hosting tonight so Ogami hosted this event. As if that wasn't enough he also took the role as teamleader. Thanks! It's fun for me try out other roles as well once in a while ;)
The mission was once again ISAF from theOden (as we suspected us to be three in the beginning).

The team:
Teamleader: Ogami Itto
Medic: Wotan
Medic: Quicksilver (he joined our team when Wotan said good night)
Sniper: Leimboy
Operator: Ninja-n00b
MG(?): Wapwap

The first mission was to eliminate a bombmaker in a nearby village. At this time the whole ISAF force in Takistan was Ogami, Wapwap and me so we headed out in a white UN jeep to attract as little unwanted attention as possible.
The suspect was in a village close by a huge factory/oil refinery facility so we first had to clear that area before heading into the village.
Our first two victims tonight...

There wasn't all that many enemies in the village but the bombmaker hid well and it took quite a while before Ogami spotted him and showed him what he thinks of him and his bombs. Wotan showed up and joined us during the search.
After the bombmaker was dealt with we got a new task. We had to rescue a captive that HQ presumed was held in a compound out in the desert. It was close enough to go by foot and so we did. As the sniper I climbed up a drill tower to have the best overview of the area.
Nice view! You can barely see the enemy camps and the village far away.

It was about this time ninja-n00b and Quicksilver joined us as well and we were now a full team and then some. And we needed it. I counted ca. 30 enemies ahead of us.
Ogami set up the team in firing positions and everyone was getting ready when a lone insurgent moved in on us from our right flank. He had to be dealt with quickly! He went down after a few shots but now the real shootout started. We had a big advantage in our ability to engage at long range so we had the upper hand all the time. Since we were out in the desert the enemy had no chance to sneak around and flank us either. It was relatively easy for me to hit the enemy with my sniper optics but I have to say that I'm impressed by the accuracy from the rest of the team! Enemies dropped dead all around in my sights before I could get a good firing solution on them. Good show!
Shooting range...distance 7-800 meters.

The team split in two, moved into the camps and village and started the search for our prisoner to be rescued. A few remaining enemies were dealt with and the prisoner were found and healed up for the trip back to base.
In my excitement I fell down from the ladder and died. I waited in the base when they arrived. As a reward for rescuing the prisoner we now had a HMMWV with .50 cal at our disposal. That suited us just fine as our next mission was to escort a convoy. The whole escort mission went by without too much happening. A couple insurgents hid along the route and they were quickly dispatched. I suspect they may have been IED operators, but we'll never know...
When the convoy was safe we went looking for a mortar nest that HQ thought was somewhere out in the desert. Ogami and me drove around and I used the thermal sight to best spot this nest, but it was the sharp sight of the rest of the team that found it and quickly shut it down.
This is my first view of the mortar nest, all clean and tidy.

HQ was obviously impressed by our efforts so they sent us to clean out an entire enemy military base. They could've just sent in a couple of bombers but noooo, they had to send us because of the civilians inside. When we got there it was crawling with enemy activity inside the camp. Lots of patrols and guards everywhere and intermingled among them were civilians.
Crawling activity

Ogami wanted to use our long range capabilities again and I stepped out of the car and found a nice spot to set up my sniper rifle.
Nice spot

Lucky for us most of the civilians run away from the camp when the shooting started and that made our work a bit easier. There were lots of places for the enemy to hide this time so the team had to go in and clean up the camp building by building in the end.
When the task was completed we headed back to base as it was getting quite late for some of us.
Strangely enough we didn't receive any new tasks either so the mission kind of ended all by itself. Not sure if this is a bug or if it is designed that way but the result was idle soldiers hanging around with nothing to do. THAT is a very dangerous situation.
It started out nice enough with some testing of planes and helicopters but it soon turned into the mayhem it tends to do
Every man for himself and everyone was someone's target. Good fun as always!
Warzone

The mission worked without any noticeable problems and the join in progress was solid. That was kind of important since that made Wotan, ninja-n00b and Quicksilver able to join us seamlessly.
The tasks in the mission was somewhat on the easy side, especially the convoy and mortar missions. Almost no enemies and we had more than enough firepower to deal with almost anything. I would have liked more of anything.
If we are this many people next time I think we'll find a more challenging mission for us. There are plenty of those.

Besides that I had a very entertaining evening. Good teamplay and planning and we had no losses, except for a few minor incidents and that is quite spectacular! GG all!
Thanks!
