Assetto Corsa

I've been keep an eye at this game, I'll most likely pick this one up.

I'll need a new wheel though, as my current one won't work on Windows 7. Any suggestions?
I bought a Fanatec Porsche GT3 V2 with Clubsport Pedals and a wheelstand a fortnight ago. ~400 EUR including a hillariuos shipping rate of 72 EUR. Well, the package was kinda heavy ...

I use it to for WRC4 and GT6 on the PS3 and love it so far.

If you're on a budget the Logitech Drivining Force is a very nice wheel, or go for a used Logitech Momo, that are sold real cheap on ebay.

Nice setup Wotan! Get yourself on Assetto Corsa and put all that kit to proper use ;)

I rather play the racing games in the living room on my 65" TV, but I'll consider it. On the other hand Project Cars will come to the PS4 ...

And what's stopping you hooking up your pc to the tv Wotan? ;)

Seriously though mate, I've played all the Forza's, Gran Turismos and pretty much every racing game out there over the years and nothing comes close, not even close to Assetto Corsa in terms of how a car feels. Everything else like the amazing sound and graphics are a bonus for me, it's the physics of the thing that continues to impress me. I've owned and driven a lot of very different, very fast cars over my life and no "game" has ever come close to how they really feel. Forza and Gran Turismo are just arcade approximations and good luck if someone tries to drive an 800bhp Skyline on the road like they do in those two games, they'll be in a ditch on the first corner for sure. Some of the Simbin titles were pretty good, and Live for Speed gave it a good go, but by far and away the best simulation of a car performing at it's limit has to be Assetto Corsa. And to think it's only on version 0.3 and feels this good is incredible really.

Just my two pence :)

Hooking up the pc to the tv will never get the permission of the CO. And the pc monitor is so small ... and the timezones don't match, too.

I've got no room for this gadget. But I'm considering to ditch my computerdesk and get an Obutto. But that has to wait, due to monetary restrictions.

According to the literature, each cars characteristics in Assetto Corsa is verified by the manufacturer of said vehicle.

Didn't know about Fanatec, they have some interesting stuff. Thanks for the tip. I like the GT3 V2, too bad there's a Porsche logo on it though ;)

How do you like yours so far? Are you using a separate shifter as well? From what I understand you have the ClubSport pedals and not the CSR ones?

I have the basic pedals. A great combo at a somewhat ok price. I can't recommend the wheelstand, though. It has a little play where the vertical piece is attached to the horizontal one, that is annoying. Maybe it's possible to mod it.

All in all I chose the Fanatec wheel because of the setup options on the wheel itself - only way to tune anything FFB related on the PS3.

btw, the game is -25% off now in steam sale. Hmmm, decisions, decisions...
I'd still say it was worth it at £30 but £22 it's a no-brainer! Duke and I alone have sunk 100's of laps into it already, never enjoyed a sim as much as this one :)

I don't stand a chance against you guys. :icon_cry2: But it is fun nonetheless :D
You know what you can do to improve more is to get rid of the supersofts and put on hard tires and practice your lines with that setup. I did this for a while and it made hotlapping on the supersofts that much easier.

I still have a long way to go to beat little P but at least I finally broke 1:47 utilizing this technique.

This is shaping up nicely :) We need a new hotlap challenge I think, who's turn to choose? I've done one and d00k has, down to one of you two to choose a combo ;)
