B2O iRacing 24 Hours of Daytona Team Discussion

Not sure I can practice WITH you guys but I'm still F5ing here daily looking at setups. Determined to get in a stint or two (or three? or TEN? not ten) since I have an epic time zone.

Messed around with the setup a bit more, it should be quite a bit more stable now.
Diff is at 27, I tried it at a higher value but it got a little scary accelerating onto the oval. I've only tried it on wing -1 (and -4 but let's not talk about that...) but we can still go up if there is a desire for it. Haven't tried a full stint yet so I don't know what happens at the end.

I liked your very first setup you posted Noel. I ran 44's with it on Monday. Unfortunately, it seems like I might have a bad video card as I've been BSODing quite a bit. I'm not able to run iRacing at the moment due to this so can't test any further for now.

I'm not sure if I'll be able to get a replacement card or not for race day, but will let you guys know. I'm hoping to be able to get this sorted out quickly.

That's too bad Bedo, Blue Screens are pretty much the most annoying thing a PC can do to you. You were one of the few who liked my first setup, most of us thought it was too dangerous and I would have to agree :p.

Here is an image of the front tire temperatures of my fastest lap in the race (lap 8, in draft). What's interesting is that iRacing seems to take the maximum value of a lap to display once you get out of the car.

Meanwhile I'm trying to think of a solution for the complaints that arise later in the stint, and for the complaints about the setup full stop (damn you Marc :) ). We could go a little softer on the rear, in terms of softer dampers and springs. But I think increasing the wing by 1 or 2 clicks might already solve the problems. We'll have to test which is better and preserves the pace the most, I have no idea at this point.

OK so the last setup you shared Noel is by far the best I've run so far of yours but it has issues. I had to baby it the first few laps which is ok because the car felt very planted to me after that.

So long as I got on throttle as early as possible and eased into full throttle it was fine but any abrupt inputs and the car wanted to kill me.

I think I lost it in T1 simply because I tried to trail brake a bit and just lost the rear in the process. I'm going to sacrifice a bit more speed through T1 from now on as I'm sure this is the exact same thing that happened to me in the McLaren in the last 24.

Having said the above, the car turned to complete shit as fuel ran off. My laptimes were a fair bit slower and the car just wanted to kill me at every possible chance.

Personally, I HATE Sprint Set 1 and never run it because this is what it does to me, makes the car never want to stop rotating. If I want more rotation in Spring Set 3 (which is all I run) I just add rake and/or rear toe.

...which I understand may not work here.

So if we're to run Spring Set 1 does it make sense to soften the rear a bit more and help it stay planted? I think we're at -1 wing right now, would it be an issue to run 0 wing and possibly soften the low speed?

Will this help to keep it a bit more planted with corner handling because if you ask me it's the most important aspect of this race. Aero on the straight does you no good if you have to delay the run onto the straight waiting for the car to settle adequately to put power into it.

I know tonight I'll be using your set Noel and testing the changes above.

Yep, I noticed it got worse about halfway into the race as well. I remember the same thing happened in the McLaren last year so I don't know if we can do anything about it setup-wise.

Trying spring set 3 (and then adjusting the ride height to 83 mm - 85 mm) and wing 0 is definitely a good idea. The dampers can go more soft as well (rebound at the front and compression at the rear) if necessary.

I'm also thinking about doing the race at 0:45 GMT (18:45 EST).

Hi guys!

Send you my set for the event is quite stable, had to work for a set to keep confortable drivers whit 1,5 difference on pace. Low tire usage, its my intellectual property so no problems for that side

Greetings guys!
Take care
P.

Nice to see you Pable and thanks for the set.

I'm pretty happy with where I am so far but will give yours a try and get back to you.

i feel like i am a bit late to the party, but if still possible i would like to join a merc team.

i haven't driven in a while but i have loads of time i can use to get back to where i was.
so is it possible for me to join without being a total hindrance to the team? no hard feelings if all teams are already set ;)

Hey all, figured I'd hop on here at the recommendation of Bedo and Deb, I've raced with Fusion before in VLN.

A couple of drivers on my personal team have dropped out leaving us tragically short of being able to compete on the 21st, with only two drivers. Which is a bit of a let down since we managed to win the 3rd split GT2 at Le Mans recently

We're not fussed about car, AMG or DP, we're really just looking for a drive, feel free to abuse us since we're used to 3 maning 24hr races and triple stinting, we're both in GMT.

My apologies for being so late to introduce myself, everything is a bit rushed right now

Duke, are you using Bedo's schedule for us to sign up for times we can drive and spot? If so, Bedo can you unprotect it, as right now it seems like it can't be edited.

Evenin'. Im the other driver Jay mentioned in his post about losing our other 2 guys for Daytona. I pretty much only sign up to iRacing for these races, so losing our other 2 drivers was a big blow to me. Here's hoping you can find some spots for myself (James Rivett) and Jay to be abused on.

Hey all, I have run with Deb and Bedo for quite a while on team Fusion and would be available to run some laps if you need another driver. Looks like a great group here and will try to join some of your other events in the future.

I did a full fuel run and was 30 laps. Using Noel's second set but took the wing to 0 and diff to 30. Drives great at first, but then around lap 18, the car seems to start getting loose where you have to very cautious through turn 1 and the kink. Has anyone else had this issue? Although you would expect time gains from the lighter car, I didn't find that to be the case as I had to drive more cautiously.

Try running Noel's set with Spring Set 3 and 0 wing, just adjust ride height to pass.

I ran this in an IMSA race Thursday and the car remained quick and controllable throughout 75 minutes.
