B2O Minecraft Craftbukkit Survival Server

Well, my original plan was just to install a Craftbukkit 1.7.10 version. I believe IC2 supports the same? If so shouldn't be an issue, or is there more to consider when installing mods server side?
To be honest, I'm not sure. IC2's original development guy has since been basically no so, and its been continued by someone else in an "experimental" mod (last I remember). It overhauls a lot of the stuff but not in a good way.

If you want to run it, then you run it how you want. All I'm saying though, me personally I dislike anything other than an authentic survival experience. I love mods that add more to the game, add more to the challenge, more blocks, etc. But I hate things that basically make an "easy" mode, including ops that give out items (or give themselves items). IE flying mods, mods that give you ridiculously OP items, etc.

My plan is definitely a survival environment. Though I will be running a few plugins, one in which allows players to protect their builds. I'm also a fan of essentials group manager which allows perm changes on the fly and I am most familiar with it.

My overall plan is to get the core of the server up and running and we can all go from there.

What does this build protection-type plugin involve? On a related note, is this going to be whitelisted, for people to join through here?

It's a mod that adds land claims.
Within those claims only the owner and friends he allows can build in the area.
It also secures every chest in it's reach.

Yes it'll be whitelisted. The plugin is called Grief prevention which allows players to claim x amount of blocks to build upon. That claim can then be shared with others if the player chooses. Generally speaking it prevents others from destroying builds by most means including things like lava spread, water spread, etc.

Worldedit/Worldguard does the same, but with regions. The downside to WE is an admin must assign regions whereas GP allows players the ability to protect areas/builds without admin intervention.

**edit** Quick beat me to it, but yea, that in a nutshell. :)

Ah. I was going to say for the most part I can't imagine us needing to be that safe with it, especially if we are keeping an eye on people and whitelisting it. But I guess it wouldn't hurt either.

My story before, I didn't mean he always intentionally broke my cool redstone contraptions, just somehow he was like a klutzy girl and just tripped over everything.

I think it should just give players the added piece of mind that what they build is protected. Survival requires a lot of resource gathering, so no doubt players will be spending some time getting things built. ;)

Also note that GP allocates X amount of blocks on a per hour basis while a player is active on the server. Of course, I believe players start with a 16 x 16 allocation of blocks.

Server is up. Provide your Minecraft tag so I can add you to the whitelist.

I'm running Craftbukkit 1.7.9 as 1.7.10 is only a dev build. Make sure you set a profile for 1.7.9 before trying to connect.

I'm at work until Sunday. If you run into any issues let me know and I'll try to get them sorted as soon as I can. Everyone joining should be part of the, 'default', group.

Where do you guys get the pack downloaded? I seem to be having issues finding it.

What pack? From my understanding it is all server side, thus the advantage of using the plugins of bukkit or whatever.

Yeah you're right Daunt, it uses the default client for mc.

@Jeff You need the 1.7.9 version and wait for Doc to whitelist us :)
