After another successful League night with some fantastically close racing, we look forward to League this Friday at Barber Motorsports Park.

This Friday we'll be looking to correct the issue of refueling during Pit Stops as refueling is not allowed in Case D Blancpain Sprint Series.

To make things a bit easier when setting up these events, we'll be running 100% fuel load for both Qualify and Main Race.

Mandatory Pit Stop is still in effect half way through the Main Race however Drivers will only be taking on tires during the Pit Stop.

Qualify Race: 20 minutes - Reverse Grid
Main Race: 50 minutes - Grid based off Qualify Race Results

Weather: (static) to be determined at time of Qualify Race.
Track State:
20% rubber for Qualify Race, 50% rubber for Main Race

Wait who is looking forward to Barber? I won't make it as I mentioned, but will try to tune in to watch. Good luck all. Good job on cleaning up the rules, that might work real well.

Why is track state not being inherited from the last session? I can see artificially starting it at 20% for the first session, but why for the main race?

I'm trying to get people to join on Friday, not scare them away. I think optimism has a better chance of filling the grid than pessimism lol, wouldn't you agree?

Barber will be fun simply because we'll be running it with good people we know.

Look how Mid Ohio turned out.

Like you I didn't like Barber much at first either but it isn't that bad of a track really. I don't think the flow of it is particularly great but it's got some pretty interesting features that should make for some close racing.

Oddly enough the tracks I'm not looking forward to are some of my favorites such as VIR, Spa, Interlagos, etc. These tracks are larger with a decent amount of both slow and fast sections (except Spa, it's all pretty fast).

This means that Drivers who are weak in one area will be left behind quickly. The whole idea in this League is to keep Drivers of similar skill set together to keep the Racing interesting; these tracks make that difficult.

Tracks like Barber, Mid Ohio, Summit Point, Watkins, Lime Rock, etc., typically mean more traffic over the course of a stint; at least in my experience.

All tracks of course will benefit from higher numbers gridding but while we're small it could mean Drivers are on their own for well over half the Race, not ideal.

As for track state I don't think it's inherited between different sessions which is why I arbitrarily assign 50%. I'll check this Friday to see if I can grab track state from a previous session.

...assuming of course I remember to do so. :icon_redface:

I'd like to see it inherited if at all possible. That would be awesome. And haha yes optimism will sell. But you'll have to pay me to be optimistic if we go back to Oran.

I agree with you on the tight, windy tracks. I just hate the flow of barber. It has a couple decent features to it, but I cant for the life of me figure out turn 5... it is incredibly difficult and against a good opponent I'll lose a second. I know in my race on Monday, 2nd and 3rd would gain on me at least by .5 every lap, then I'd gain it back the rest of the lap.

Turn 7 I think you said you liked but I think it's an awkward turn that on faster cars makes no sense. The braking into it is really challenging which makes it interesting... you have to brake and turn then really slam on it as you slide down the hill, but as I said, the turn (and setup into 8) is just strange for fast cars.

I would love to see track state inherited as well but I'm not sure if it can be? I don't remember seeing an option for it but when I started configuring these things I was so far in over my head I had no idea what I was doing.

I'm getting a better handle on things now so if it does exist I'll get it in session.

BTW, bring on Oran, I had a better time of it than you did lol. You're only hurting yourself. :icon_twisted:

The flow of Barber isn't good at all to be perfectly honest. I do LOVE the uphill turn to the right where the car is quite literally airborne leading to that small downhill straight (Turn 3, Turn 4?).

I also like the S very much simply because if you get it right it's almost a straight line. You really have to be careful though because you need to get on the gas quickly; getting in too fast means you're on the brakes trying to keep off the grass with everyone running over you.

It's another technical track and I tend to enjoy them more as they're just interesting and keep one continually challenged.

Spa, Interlagos and VIR all are tracks I can make a pass on even if I don't have a particularly good run out of a corner. Tracks like Barber, Mid Ohio, and company mean you have to be on it to make a pass.

I like that kind of racing.
