B2O S4R1 Blancpain League Race: Friday night Sept 16, 2016

The final Season in 2016 kicks off at the ever challenging framerate killer Nurburgring GP.

Drivers are going to need plenty of tissues to soak up the tears this night as those lucky enough to survive the dive bombers in Turn 1 have plenty of track remaining to screw themselves over elsewhere.

It's a nightmare, it's not even enjoyable accidentally and it takes 6 fucking minutes to load ffs!

Just a heads up, if I accidentally screw up any of the sessions tonight I'm going to uninstall iRacing, sell my shit, buy a musket and move into the woods.

HAVE A GREAT TIME LOL!

Open Qualify Session starts at 7:30 PM EST spanning 1 hour. Participants are required to put down a reasonable time (within 3 seconds of the leader) to qualify for the Q-race. If any less than 3 laps are put down, or the driver is not within 3 seconds of the leader, he/she will be put at the back of the grid.

Qualify Race
starts at 8:30 PM EST spanning 40 minutes of practice and finishing off with a 20 minute, inverse grid, Qualify Race, gridded per the open qualify session prior.

Main Race starts at approx 9:45 PM EST with 10 minutes warmup and a 50 minute Race.

Grid positions carry over from Qualify Race Results.

A mandatory Pit Stop is required within a narrow 5 minute Pit Window at the 25 - 30 minute mark to take on tires only.

Damn, Duke. I'll run a nice warm bath for you then once your settled in I'll hand you the straight razor. I think the GP track could be great if they just permanently took out turn one and the Mercedes Arena. Any layout without the arena is pretty good. Well, except for that right turn cut-off after the arena that they use sometimes.

It's really not that bad a track it's just it has such a weird flow to it I find it near impossible to find a rhythm whatsoever. I think this is the reason I love tracks like VIR, Mid-Ohio, Road America, Summit Point, etc., they have a certain rhythm to them that I find appealing.

I'm also not a big fan of the patience, patience, patience, ok now gunnit! turns on this track. I feel like just about every turn here is late apex and that gets a bit old after the 16 zillion laps required for me to put together a full fuel run lol.

Good point on the late apex thing. For some reason I never picked up on that but now that I think about it there is alot of those for one track.

I swear some of these drivers have to be cutting the track somewhere to get these ridiculous lap times. I've been able to sneak down into the 56.1's a couple of times but mostly 57's and 58's for me. That mercedes arena is such a weird beast. I feel like I'm trying to wrestle a giant octopus. As I'm slipping out of one tentacle another has already grabbed hold. I'll get the first half of the complex right only to screw up the second half and vice-versa.

I actually managed a high 54 last night around here but I don't know if it's something I can do regularly? I do think softening the rear Low Speed helped me a fair amount but the car is still loosey-goosey the first few laps.

I'm also braking a lot earlier in many areas and that has helped me stabilize the car enough to get on throttle sooner.

Getting through the chicanes though, pfft, no idea?

Oh ya, my spotter isn't working either so just a heads up lol. For whatever reason, he'll make one call out early in the Session then never speak again.

I must admit I love not hearing chad blurt out his stupid phrases but it's not terribly helpful when you're 2 wide.

Oh, shit. Everybody, get out the way!!!!!

I still dont have a mic. I tried using a set of earbuds that has a in-line mini mic for talking on the phone. After doing the little test in TS settings, I was afraid to use it for fear of blowing players and viewers ears out. Maybe I'll be able to get one of you to be a guinea pig tonight. We'll start quiet.

Thanks for letting me in the race(s) tonight. I had a absolute blast!!! That's the stuff I missed and why I quit racing a few years ago. I still have a long ways to go to knock all the rust off, and get used to racing again. I must say after not racing in almost 3 years I was very tired till the end of all that racing and it lead to a spin in the last couple laps. Sorry for just bugging out after the races, but my laptop died (I was running TS through it).

One question about the league, do we need to run the same car every week? Didn't really get much time to test them out today so I just went with the Merc. Not wanting to car hop every week, just wouldn't mind testing them all out in the next couple days then settle into one.

Thanks again guys, I had a absolute blast!!!!

Glad you enjoyed yourself dr, I think you make a great addition to the League.

We do try to limit vehicle selection where possible as it can be taken advantage of by Drivers picking the best car for each track. Given Blancpain Sprint is our model it's best that people stick with one car for the season.

...however, there have been times where some of us have switched to another car for League if we're running an Endurance Event (for example) and need the seat time.

Aside from that most people seem to stick to the same vehicle.

Having said all that, I don't think anyone would object to you switching to something you'd prefer to drive so if you feel there's a better car for you then please feel free to switch.

We run Practice Pals Sessions Mon and Wed so that would be the perfect time to try out new rides to see if ones a better fit for you.
