What happened tho? It seemed it was a combination of feathering too much and touching the other car.
His reaction is priceless, if i ever had that situation happen to me i'd be so happy about the save i'd crash it while celebrating probably.

LMAO Quick, I'd probably do the same. And yeah, nice save for sure. Had some nice saves myself on the tarmac, but doing it on the grass in iRacing is a whole different ballpark...

It might not have been the best save in the world, but I was scared enough driving 45 minutes at VIR.

What happened tho? It seemed it was a combination of feathering too much and touching the other car.

The car isn't really planted so coming out of that corner is a bit dodgy if you get on the throttle too early. It looked like he wasn't sure what the car in front was going to do and he was on/off throttle as a result.

That along with a slight love tap was probably enough for the rear to lose traction and send him into a spin.

It's really tough to tell though because in iRacing that type of contact resembles more of a pit maneuver than anything where the lead car will spin. That's the reason I think Matt's car was just off balance because he shouldn't have been affected in the manner he was.

...and what a shame that is because this week in GT3 Class we're racing VIR and it is an AWESOME track!!!

It is horrifically difficult and you get punished hard for the smallest of mistakes but it's worth it. This track reminds me a lot of Mid-Ohio only longer and faster; and I love Mid-Ohio.

Many think this is the toughest track in the service and I can certainly see why.

Now that you mention it, it is indeed very much like Mid-Ohio. Or sort of a mix between Mid-Ohio and Laguna Seca.

I've done a little bit of practice besides the hosted session we did and would like to race it this week if I can. If the speed of the people around you is close to yourself then the track reaches a whole new level of difficulty when having to share it with other huge and fast cars.

I think this video below is still the best save I've seen in iRacing. It's from Jared Jewell, a very fast Mustang driver and I believe he has won a season in the Slowstice too. The car he ends up almost hitting is Kevin C Ford I believe. I thought it was fitting because we are at Road Atlanta now in the GT3 series.

Just to provide some contrast to these awesome saves, me showing how not to save your car, and Duke hitting me head on. Still one of my favorite I-racing vids ever :lol: (feel free to brand this as worst save ever) Also shows very well what happens if nubs like me try to save their car instead of doing a controlled roll out in the grass...
