BoS gone from my PC

I'm quite enjoying it right now. I don't have to much issue with what is going on other than the SP thing, I think back to IL2, IL2:FB and IL2:CLOD when they were first launched and this is night and day. I get why some are a little peeved about a few things but it's not like it's a shit with glitter on it, it's a rough diamond.

Duke, we can go online and fly together no issue right now.
Ya I know we can fly in a dogfight server which is fine but I really enjoyed the Coop with the 332 guys the most. That was easily the best flying experience I ever had and the reason I ever got hooked on flight sims.

To be honest though, I'm tiring of game devs over-promising and under-delivering. This has been a huge issue with EA the past 4 years or so and it agitates me here because this flight sim needed our money to develop, we gave it and now their locking us out of what we're already accustomed used to.

It's just a bad way to do business made worse now that the money is in the bank so to speak.

Maybe I overstated with candy sprinkles on shit but it's still a bit of a stretch to call it a diamond in the rough.

I do however like the game very much and won't be uninstalling it however I can see and identify with why this decision has split the community in two.

One thing is I don't feel like I've ever been lied too. I think myself and many others had expectations which might have been dashed a little.

There is always DCS in the mean time until private DF servers and FMB is released.

I truly don't remember reading anything remotely close to a mandatory SP Unlock system but I'll have to check my records because I usually take screenshots during the purchasing process.

Being lied to is probably a strong word but misrepresentation is certainly justified in this case.

Switching gears, I was actually looking at the Kickstarer for DCS WWII Europe 1944 and may actually buy into that.

They've already surpassed their goal by $50,000 I believe but the more funds they bring in will help to develop more flyable content and larger maps.

I've supported them too, from the beginning and have DCS P 51. I'll probably get the Dora as well, since it requires far less effort to fly. DCS P 51 is a little to micro management for me to find it fun.

Can't that be adjusted out via the difficulty options?

I think there are a few options to reduce overheads but nearly all the online servers have it in full.

BTW if you want to KA50 it some, just send me a time when you can play. I just hopped back into it and with a quick refresher I'm pretty much ok with not crashing and firing off a few missiles.

DCS has a big Steam sale going on. The Dora is 13 EUR atm. The Steam key can be used to activate the module directly in DCS.

Oh nice. Purchased that right away. Lots of the other modules are cheap too. Worth getting Flaming Cliffs 3 as that will get you at least two PFM modules in the future. I'm holding off relearning some of the aircraft so I can get into the Su27 in a few days time.

DCS has a steep learning curve, however, that beeing said it is the startup and take off that is most challenging in this matter. But, there is a short command to start up everything without having to do the button dance :)

For me that dance is enjoyable and it doesn't take that long. During this time there is the opportunity to talk through mission and getting things straightened.

Regarding CoD the FM and graphics with the TF updates are way better than BoS! No question about that. The drawback of CoD is still the cumbersome online interface but once that hurdle is overcome it really out-flies BoS in every way.

Granted, the fact that tree collision isn't in DCS or CoD is a wee bit annoying but if you fly as it was there it doesn't erk me as much. DCS will have the new engine in November which means DX11 interface and much improved graphics and frame rate but we could still be disappointed with that implementation :). The Normandie map is under development and since ED them self has assumed control over DCS:1944 it will be developed but at a slower pace.

BoS right now has absolutely nothing except air-quake since there is no server and no mission builder. It's even worse than RoF on release! The utter nonsence of having unlocks and grinding to get them in a SIMULATION is not what I paid for!

That's my two cents anyway :)

I wanted to like COD, especially as I could fly over where I live - the landmarks, distances, everything made sense because I know them first hand! But when I tried it last it felt very disconnected as an experience.
