BoS Review at SimHQ

Yeah, it's fair. His point at the end though, is why people shouldn't dump this game. It has so much potential and a solid foundation. The original Il2 and FB lacked so much on the foundation side yet did really well.

I still have it, and i will play it.
There is dedi server files for this so we might be able to make it as co-op as possible with the settings provided.

I'll fiddle around with it and see what i can come up with if my local server is rebuilt.

Yeah that's a really good review, very fair IMHO. The ONLY issue I have with the game is being forced down a play path but other than that the game is pretty solid so far.

It's still on my Hard Drive and probably just needs updating so if you guys want to do something then let me know.

I don't have COD though and won't be buying it.

Duke, get DCS installed and the FC3 or Su27 module and come fly with me. It's really quite a challenge with the new PFM.

Hi Mondo, I have DCS Huey and Black Shark 2 as well as the core planes (I'm guessing Su27).

It should be all up to date and ready to go as I just got it all working a week or so ago.

You get the Su27 free if you have FC3 already or it's a separate module to do download. A new version of DCS came out yesterday with it in.

OK I'll have to check then because I'm sure I'll need an update. I do seem to recall the Su in there already though.

...incidentally, I have no idea how to fly it. I've never actually flown a jet aircraft before except in Flaming Cliffs (I think it was) and only very briefly.

Update and have a check. It's quite allot of fun, it's constantly on a knife edge between being awesome and a nasty stall. Needs to be trimmed more than the Blackshark.

I never tried the new flight Models, i did remember u telling me that all the FC3 Models would get their own FM.

I'll check how they handle this morning, anyway what is your regular play schedule Mondo?

So far the only FC3 aircraft with PFM is Su27 and F15C. Generally good to play at the weekends right now. I'm still brushing up on some of these aircraft and helicopters.

I've only tried the F15C and the MiG29 in the last 2 weeks, and i really need the practise in one of those before being somewhat useful in that :)

The Su27 is the flanker right? There used to be a game just for that plane.... Can't recall the exact name but i know it took a shitload of my time away from studying.
Wouldn't mind flying that again, luckily the basics of flight remain the same and i don't have to relearn that everytime i switch plane :p

The MIG29 is still on the old simple flight model. They want to add PFMs for the other FC3 aircraft in the future though. I'd really like one for the Mig29 but also the Su33.

If you've already learnt the targeting systems in DCS for the Soviet aircraft then there is nothing new to learn in that respect - the basic HUD, air to air and air to ground systems are the same on all modern Soviet aircraft unless you're using the Shkval system (in which case its the same on all aircraft that use it). The change to the Su27 was purely a completely new flight model and a couple of new functions related to that, plus a new HDD screen. Same as the old in function but an exact replica of the one found in the Su27S.

Thankfully, they've added in the interactive training modules for the Su27 now so it's much easier to learn how to fly it. They don't really go over the fact you can disable the ACS system, which allows you to perform extreme AoA manoeuvres like the Cobra.

I was thinking of hosting a server tomorrow evening and fly around in one of the many available planes.
Keeping the free version pilots in mind i'll look for a mission that spawns all the available aircraft including the free ones.

I used to have one that left pilots with the choice if they would join the fight or do whatever suits them and fly around away from battle.

Seeing as i am nowhere near full capability with the Su27 i'll probably go for some basic flying maneuvers in that.
