Crashing...

Keep getting this about 5 minutes after booting up... anyone have any ideas or experiencing the same thing? This is exactly what I was worried about before getting BF4 as I'd heard it crashed a lot... dammit. Help please?

Have you tried updating DirectX?

Also, maybe you just have some crappy video drivers, update them as well and perform a clean install.

I will do that now JK, open to all suggestions thankyou :)

EDIT: Done, will give that a whirl and get back to you

Other options I saw
* remove any OC on the gfx card, even if it is a factory OC
* disable Origin ingame (Origin => Application settings) and any other overlays
* lower the settings, especially texture quality

Hmm... no dice. Still crashes after manually updating dx.

the 650ti boost is factory overclocked... I wouldn't even know (or should!?) how to make it slower...

I'll try disabling origin in game, thankyou sir.

I'm also chatting to a support advisor from EA. This should be fun...

Looks like disabling origin seems to have done the trick, thanks JK :D

p.s. this game is bOOOOOOOOtiful!

Alas, I thought that would be too easy. Locking up with the same message when I ctrl-alt-del. Fucks sake.

Welcome to Battlefield 4!
 I feel like one of the gang now!

After a bit of tinkering it looks like it's stable if I turn the settings down to high and bump up the AA to MSAA x 4. I'm happy with that, it looks amazing still (couldn't really tell the difference between High and Ultra?!) and is silky smooth. I'm off out now to shoot some pool but glad I (fingers crossed) got it to be stable as I'm planning on hitting it for an hour or so when I come in blind drunk later :) Cheers boys

Keep in mind the MSAA 4X your pc takes a huge performance hit. I actually play with it off, and I don't really notice much difference. Gives me around 15 extra frames having it off. Yup, try it on high instead of ultra as you'll probably have better luck.

Yup, was gonna throw that in too. I unparked cores on both pc's but in all honesty don't know if it made a difference (in my case).

Hmm... I'm getting into the realm of Idontknowwhatthefeckimdoing which let's be honest, isn't that very far down the road. I'll try it again once this headache goes and see how it goes. Thanking you kindly chaps what what.

Good shout dude, it's now running on Ultra with 60+ fps without MSAA x4 :) And oh sweet mother mary the sounds in this game are AMAZING :icon_eek:

Well. still getting the dx crashes... the guy from EA "help" keeps telling me I need to get a graphics card with 3gb of memory otherwise it won't work. mmkay. I'm ready to leap down the fibre line and slap him

Naw, I know lots of guys that play with 2 GB cards and don't have the dx issue that you're getting. And everyone crashes, whether it's your client or server side.

Have you tried different GPU drivers? Lots of players have luck with the older 320.49. Try them. Be sure to use Driver Sweeper or CCleaner to wipe out the registry so no possibility of conflicts.

Damnit P, why is luck never on your side.. (pc gaming wise). I have this old pc, and BF4 is working and running like a charm for me (2GB videocard fyi).

It seems like there's a lot of people having this issue, with the same amount of different solutions. I've seems people underclocking their videocards, because some are OEM overclocked. Have you tried that yet?
Does starting the 64 version of BF4 make a difference?
