After a near eternity desperately scraping the bowels of the internet reading predictions, supposed leaked information and other unconfirmed copy my prayers have been answered. On the X-Box stage we finally got our first look at Cyberpunk2077 in years:

I'm unbelievably excited about this as now it means there's something to talk about and clearly this is the year CDProjekt breaks their long and punishing silence on the game details.

Please share your thoughts.

Same here - really excited for it. Unfortunately, still no release date or time frame yet. So I guess, this is at least one year out, if not more.

Also, is it just me, or is the tone of the trailer quite a bit different from the original teaser? Not complaining about it though, trailer looks awesome.

What sort of a game is it then? Never heard of it
Cyberpunk 2077 is an upcoming single player role playing game by the creators of "The Witcher" games, based in some form on the tabletop game "Cyberpunk 2020". It was originally announced 2013 with the following teaser, but they have gone dark on any information regarding this game since.

Also, the E3 trailer from today had the following message hidden in two frames at the 1:39 minute mark:

It has been 2077 days since we announced our plan to develop Cyberpunk 2077. We released a CGI Trailer, gave some Interviews and... went dark. Normal procedure for these kind of things - you announce a game and then shut up, roll up your sleeves, and go to work. We wanted to give you The Witcher 3 and both expansion first which is why this period of staying silent was longer than we planned. Sorry for that.

As soon as we concluded work on Blood and Wine, we were able to go full speed ahead with CP2077's pre-production. But we choose to remain silent. Why? At some point, we made a decision to resume talking about the game only when we have something to show. Something meaning and substantial. This is because we do realise you've been impatiently waiting for a very long time, and we would'nt like anyone to feel that we're taking this for granted. On the contrary - it gives us a lot of extra motivation. The hype is real, so the sweat and tears need to be real, too. :)

But to the point. Today is the day, if you're seeing this, it means you saw the trailer - our vision of Cyberpunk, an alternative version of the future where America is in pieces, megacoperations controll all aspects of civilised life, and gangs rule the rest. And, while this world is full of adrenaline, don't let the car chases and guns mislead you. Cyberpunk 2077 is a true singe player, story-driven RPG. You'll be able to create your own character and..., well, you'll get to know the rest from what we show at our booth at E3. Be on the lookout for the previews!

Before we finish, you probably have some questions.

1. When?
When we told you we would only release the game when it's ready, we meant it. We're definitely much, much closer to a release date than we were back then :), but it's still not the time to confirm anything, so patience is still required. Quality is the only thing that drives us - it's the beauty of being an independent studio and your own publisher.

2. How big?
Seriously big, but... , to be honest, we have no bloody clue at this poinr in time. Once we put it all together, we will openly tell you what you can expect. And we promise we will be doing this before we start talking about any pre-orders or ask anything of you.

3. Free DLC/Expansions/DRM?
Expect nothing less than you got with The Witcher 3. As for DRM, Cyberpunk 2077 will be 100% DRM-free for PC.

4. Mictrotransactions?
In a single player role-playing game? Are you nuts?

Once again, thank you for your patience, id you have a minute, do visit Cyerpunk.net and share your opinion (about anything) with us. We read everything you post and we treat it very seriously.

Yours,
CD PROJECT RED Team
The Blood and Wine expansion for the Witcher 3 was released end of May 2016. If the development for Cyberpunk 2077 just started then, and considering the dev cycle for The Witcher 3 was around 3.5 years (iirc), I don't expect Cyberpunk 2077 before the beginning of 2020.

Oh man that CGI trailer, i've watched it countless times. That moment the bullet gets fired and strikes her skin... goosebumps.

This is one of the few games that is getting away with this amount of update.... without losing the interest

They really didn't need to release any details given the way The Witcher 3 was handled. Like it or hate it you have to admit that the way they released The Witcher 3 was a clear message that their focus is a quality product at a more than fair price.

CDPR is now one of the most beloved Dev's on the Planet and all that goodwill goes a long way.
