Dude, I need to download EVERYTHING. ArmA 2, the expansions, DayZ itself... this is gonna take a little bit to do.

You do need to download Dayzcommander and DayzTaviana

My god this is a pain in the ass! I'd already started re-installing everything then stumbled upon this thread. I'm getting all sorts of crap coming up about files missing and cdkeys missing blah blah it's all through steam but have googled it and trying the solutions about regedit etc.

i've got dayz commander but what's this DayzTaviana all about?

lol it's the map you need to dl to play. If you look in DayZ Commander where it says DayZ version and ArmA Version, look down the list and you will see Taviana.

You need to dl and install it through DayZ Commander which is a grand total of 1 mouse click I think.

ok got it all sorted. server is running version 1.62.95883 game is just 1.62... I have literally just re-downloaded it so how can it be out of date and how do you update it? Facks sake just as I start to get back into pc games they remind me why i gave up on them! such a bloody faff

edit never mind in dayz commander right? im guessing just patch to latest which doesnt match but i'll see if it works

Yeah I got that, downloaded that, closed everything down, then when I go in to the multiplayer bit in day Z it says in red font 1.62.95883 ?!? seriously...

EDIT: ok i think i got it now. why do they let you download an out of date game through steam? nothings ever simple blah blah typical moaning brit blah blah

Thanks to Quicksilver and the others I got it going, was pretty cool! Shot me some Zombies, cacked my pants a couple of times and nearly shot one of us in a ghillie suit as I thought it was a neck muncher. Went for a ride in a helo and a truck too. Just gotta configure all the damn controls and I'll be set, thanks to all who were on that donated the boom sticks and gear! This time I didn't lose it all by the shore lol I'll definately be on again, enjoyed it

Am I missing something, or is the actual server info not posted anywhere? (name, IP etc.)

Also, from reading reddit etc. many people do NOT want to play on servers with too many vehicles.

The vast majority of large populated servers that feature tons of vehicles say differently.

On top of it, most of the large populated servers spawn you from the start with practically everything you need to survive, sometimes even a sniper rifle. We haven't and won't go that far unless the Tard community shows an interest in it, however we have to cater to what the majority of players are looking for. If we attempt to cater to the small niche we will fail. The small niche have already found their "home" servers.

The player base looking for a small server with no custom-features and the "base game" are a very, very small niche in the DayZ community.

None of the Server Info has been made public yet as we're still not 100% up and running in a dependable manner.

It's taken a lot longer to get to even this state of preparedness because we've basically created a Custom Configuration Private Hive from scratch which is tricky if you've never done so previously.

The Team we have working on it is doing a great job but there are a few extenuating circumstances that may require rethinking certain setup choices.

That being said, once we feel we're there we'll publicly announce it to everyone whether their interested in listening or not.
