Diablo III public beta

Apparently, since a few hours the Diablo III beta is publicly accessible to anyone with a Battle.net account. It appears to be a starter edition, so not all the content is accessible.

Currently downloading it! Now not hoping it's some sort of mistake they made.

It appears it wasn't suppose to open up:

Update: Blizzard has waded in. It sounds like the beta wasn't supposed to open up, and that Blizzard has taken the servers down across the board while the issue is resolved.

Wrote Blizzard community poster Ulvareth: "The Diablo 3 beta is currently not available for play while we're working to resolve an issue. We don't have a current ETA for the beta to be back and running at the moment, but we plan to share an update with you in approximately 2 hours from now."

Funnily enough, this led me to check out my battle.net-Account, and I am downloading the client now. Seems I might have been accepted into the beta without getting a notification.

When is it actually released? Not really wanting to take part in a promo event of a game I already will buy!

May 15th is the official release date .
The public beta is at most only an hours worth of game play so ,imo, it doesnt spoil that much
