Round 2, set to kick off at 1900 GMT (3pm eastern) on Saturday the 24th of October takes place in Englad at Brands Hatch.

Discuss setups, let us know who plans to make it and everything else!

I smell BMW territory!

Brands Hatch might be less curby than Road Atlanta but I think the racing might be closer here. 2-3 Wide into turn 1 will see a lot of people falling off, as the Audi above demonstrates. Then turn 2 will be a bottleneck where divebombers will just close their eyes and go for it.

Don't go on curb in T1, it slowly destroyed your left skirt. We've all had issues in league race. HPDs, Corvettes, GT3 and Caddys.

I wonder if that happens for all GT3 cars. It would be a shame not to use the curb because you lose so much time then. I even use some of the sand :D.

Not just in T1 i can tell ya.... Whenever i am following you on BH i have to close all windows as every bit of dirt you see you throw up in the air somehow

Damage occurs on all GT3 cars. It doesn't affect lap times as there is no long straights that would make it noticable.

Finally bought Brands Hatch. This endurance race is going to be a handful.

What's it looking like for drivers for both teams?

I should be there, but I may show up a bit late (unsure) so I might have to run the second or third stint to be safe.

hahaha

Quick you going to be a C license in time?
As always we're going to take over the world!... oh wait i'm not Ren.

I am waiting for the trackswitch tomorrow as current tracks are kinda not my tracks.... Especially mt.panorama and the caddy don't do me much justice SR wise

That sounds like one of the worst combinations ever.

It doesn't only sound like it, it feels that way to.

I'll have a choice tho, i've already met my mpr, i just need the sr which i can probably get in the Mazda cup.

The start of this race is going to be so scary, so long SR. Actually, the entire race might be a bit scary, this is a tough course to be clean and competitive at especially for this duration.

This is a track full of potential bottle necks so I expect it to be non-stop carnage :icon_eek:

The BMW should be pretty competitive here this time around as it's not really a high speed track such as Road Atlanta and Monza are. We're really going to need to focus on dialing out understeer as we need to get through the corners and on throttle as quickly as possible to have anything for the Ruf.

I actually wonder if it's not a bit smarter to start from the Pits this time around?

I'm usually pretty against starting in the pits. Since I won't really be starting this time though I'll leave it up to the driver. But as far as the race itself goes, I will be racing extremely passive for most of the race. Giving up positions won't be a big thing. It's going to be a long race and I expect dozens of cars to take themselves out throughout the race, not to mention the first few laps.

That will be my approach.

Will try and nail a setup. I did actually a decent stint last night, ran about 30 minutes in some heavier traffic. Was doing OK laps (I think 1:25:8xx was my fastest) but low 1:26s was more realistic. Other cars were doing 1:23s, not sure if due to setup, or running hot laps on low fuel or I just suck. Weather for that session was in between - not too slippery, but not fast weather either.

I really don't like the idea of starting from the Pits either but I also don't want to lose another .3 SR. I also don't want to drive damaged like I had to at Monza because I know it hurt our lap times.

This is a pretty narrow track and given it's complexity it means there's a high likelihood of a lot of paint swapping in the early laps.

If passive works for you that's great but I won't be running passive whatsoever in the early stages. I simply don't want to get run over and I'm worried that allowing people on my rear bumper will all but assure that.

This may be one of the few times I take fuel out of the car to Qualify. Normally I don't want to do it but it's going to be super important around here to minimize the risk of being caught up in the multiple wrecks that are likely to occur.

I'll be on tonight if you want to work on setup. I can say I'll be a lot more comfortable if we can have a good turning set. I'm not worried about the straights but getting out of the corner will be key to keeping our car in tact I think.

I'm already stressed out lol.

Hahaha. I hear ya.

I meant passive when it comes to cars on your bumper, not so much turning passive laps (that are noticeably offpace). I'll gladly run wide to let someone by rather than race with him early on (late in the race is another story).

I should be on tonight, just a question of what time I'll pop on.

I'll be on for quite a while tonight because I need to get my shit together and address my Twitch issues.

Ya my comment was about that guy turning you in Turn 2, I'm worried about that happening here as there's plenty of opportunity for it.

Hey Zac, whatcha doing Saturday? You have a lot of spare SR to go around, wink, wink, nudge, nudge.

Whew. I just hope last night wasn't an iRacing night for me. Off night. Honestly I need to spend time on track by myself. Just bought the track and I've turned probably no more than 30 laps at Brands Hatch and it shows. I don't know the line and such.

Doesn't change how I feel about Brands Hatch. I'm going to see if Tim Olson has a Brands Hatch setup. That's my only hope right now.

And please join us Zac! Otherwise Ken is on the hook for two stints because he says he loves Brands Hatch so much.

Yup, you seemed marginally less than happy I'd say last night lol.

I love Brands Hatch but I'm seriously worried lol. I did manage to find decent pace last night but control was well, not controlled.

Hopefully I can wring it in a little tonight and get some longer runs under my belt.

Setup feels pretty good to me but could probably do with a few changes to keep the rear under control better. What I like is the turn in though so if we can tighten up that rear end a bit without losing turn in we have a pretty quick set IMHO.

I did notice your turn in was great. I'd be curious to see how that plays out on a long run. I'm still going to keep my eyes open for the next few days on setups on the forum to try out. Your setup wasn't terrible but I want to try a couple others as well.

My setup is loose and I totally know it. The rear is a bit free to allow for the turn in I'm enjoying but it's a handful, no question about that.

Now that I've reverted all the changes that Noel talked me into I may be able dial in the back end a bit.
