Hi,

I would like to play a multiplayer game of Europa Universalis 4 with a bunch of like minded people when the new AoW dlc comes out. By like minded I mean, willing to come back and back to a long running game cos this game always would be. Not needing to push people to play super quick, able to enjoy the depth that this game has to offer.

They would need to be willing to play during an English evening (7 GMT onwards thereabouts) for a few hours or some time at the weekends.

Any takers?

I'm interested, but I've only ever played CKII seriously. I know some mechanics are similar / the same but I'd have to play a lot more EU to get familiar with it. I prefer the EU time period to be honest (Expansion age, Napoleonic era, etc). I was trying hard to go from a small kingdom (I started with Wales) in CKII and then import the game to EU eventually but never had the time to finish the game completely.

EUIV is NOT like CKII. They're very different games. I too prefer the EUIV timeline, but EUIV is very...hmmm...gamey. It's entirely balanced and designed around the developers' internal multiplayer game experiences, so it basically doesn't "make sense" as a single player game. From my experience, CKII is a much more "simmy" experience (although it obviously abstracts a ton of stuff -- yet still feels organic within the game confines, unlike EUIV). That said, I expect EUIV is a solid multiplayer "board game" experience, and the basics aren't hard to pick up if you've become familiar with Paradox's system.

I'd try playing a bit of single-player to learn some of the mechanics (and peruse the forums), and then give multiplayer a shot. Or just dive right in, I guess, since single-player is balanced around multi-player.

I'm not saying it is the same. I'm saying having played CKII, and it being from the same developer and designed to be a continuation of the series, they have similarities. You said if you're familiar with Paradox's system. That is exactly what I was getting at.

Ok, I'd be happy to try a game when the new expansion comes out at the end of the month. I can be patient and talk you through anything you want as we play. Really hoping for 3 players though. There are some others who mentioned they might.
