Far Cry 3 Impressions

Oh ya, the Max Payne reference is absolutely there. Reminds me both of the never ending corridors in his home trying to get to his crying baby and screaming wife.

Remember the black void room where you had to follow the blood trails in slow motion with red snow flakes all around you?

I wish they would remake the original Max Payne in today's tech with NO CHANGES to the game other than visuals.

Hopefully it's not near Tea Time or the whole camp could be going up around you and you'd just sit there with that blank look on your face.
Chuckled

probably not the same mission mate, it's right at the beginning... I've not got very far, I keep chasing goats and positioning them so there are teetering on the edge of a cliff.. then the rest is not suitable for public viewing. Suffice to say it's better when they push back I hear... o_O

Late to the party here, but I too am LOVING this game. It's really spectacular. One of my favorite things to do is to try takedowns. I've been using my skills mostly to get different takedown types, which I fully intend to try out. Sadly, I've only had an opportunity to really try one or two.

One of the most fun things I've found is taking out pirate bases. My preferred technique is long-range sniping with the silenced M700 and the high powered scope. Once oyu have this, with a little patience, you can really wreak havoc on an outpost. I usually try to get to high ground overlooking the outpost, then use the camera to tag everyone I can, and then just start picking them off.

One of the most satisfying rounds of this was when I freaked out some of the guys with molotovs, and they managed to set bascially half a mountainside on fire. the fire just traveled with the wind and blew up the side of the mountain FAR longer than I'd have expected. It was brilliant. You really get the sense of how DANGEROUS fire can be if you're not careful with it, and it's made me wary of relying too much on fire-based attacks (molotovs, flamethrower, fire arrows, exploding fuel drums, etc.) You could end up with a wildfire burning up towards you if you aren't careful!

As far as doing the boat mission, your best bet is to probably go take on enough radio towers to get the sniper rifle or at least the bow. Then take a lot of time to tag everyone you can, and start picking them off silently. I wouldn't try doing stealth takedowns, since there's far too much open ground there, even with all the crates and such. It's a tough mission, though, no question.

I just bought this on the recommendation the co-op was very good. I also got a 27" screen to play it on but I think my 580 GTX might need to get an upgrade!

Yeah, it's rough on older computers. I have the settings kinda low and it runs well, but doesn't look as good as it could.

The co-op is good fun but nothing really that new. Would be a nice game is there were less menus and no uplay.

My PC is pretty much just over a year old and the 580GTX was top of the line when I got it but it doesn't have enough vram to do 2560x1440 with the FSAA options turned up. Runs perfectly at 1920x1200 though.
