Far Cry 3 too easy?

I also turned off weapon tagging, the detection indicator, and hit indicators. I've gotten a little farther where I see Molotov guys and RPG guys and it's gotten more interesting.

I also found it more interesting not to use fast travel too much and to travel by foot a bunch. The wildlife can be a challenge at times, especially if they sneak up on you unexpectedly.
Later on you'll also encounter heavies with body armor and machineguns / flamethrowers, and in the missions the numbers of enemies will also increase significantly. Things get more challenging the farther you get. :)

Next patch will add another difficulty level too btw, and an option to reset all outposts back to enemy.

In a way, yeah, but some of that was my own doing. I spent time sneaking from radio tower to radio tower and doing as much hunting and crafting as possible, so that when I really started pushing through the story missions, they were a cakewalk early on. Even so, I tend to find that the later stuff is pretty simple to do if you do more long-range silenced sniping. I can take down an outpost -- even one that calls for reinforcements -- pretty easily using just a sniper rifle. I think I'm playing Normal difficulty, but even so, playing cautiously has kept me from dying too much.

If you want a challenge, drive through with a Jihad Jeep, jump out and set it off.

That'll get their attention and make things much more difficult.

Also, I engaged enemy on the beaches because re-enforcements come from everywhere and that was when the game was at it's most difficult.

First of all, I am pretty sure there is a "Your mom"-joke that could be made here...

Secondly, it's fine for me, but I kinda suck, so there's that. Play certain stuff without stealth to make it more challenging?

Yup, found it too easy as well. Even with the difficulty cranked up it is all too easy to use the same tactic to win. It's exactly this that stopped me playing it through to the end, I got bored very quickly.

Ya but you have a short attention span so you're asking too much from just about anything.

What do you mean a shor... oh look a plane! I'm hungry. What the hell was I just doing? Never mind.

But yes you are right sir. Playstation generation and all that?

Seriously though, it's like a move in a fighting game that can't be beaten, once you find it, you know it's there. Choosing not to use it is like playing the AI on anything other than the hardest setting, it's letting you win, and not using the simple tactic to defeat the AI in FC3 is the same principle. When will someone develop truly unpredictable AI? Who knows. Even in Max Payne 3 which I was really enjoying, the enemy AI is just so predictable it's no fun anymore.

The way I see it it's like the boss battles on a side scrolling shoot em up from the 80's. Once you know how to beat it, it doesn't surprise you. All that's changed is more pixels and different perspectives!

I'm still waiting for that breakthrough, until then the game of life seems to have some really good graphics and true HD 1080p 100hz OLED unpredictability in the AI... still haven't figured out how to get past the second level for chrissakes

Other one I saw a dude is shooting some kind of lmg at an enemy and he's just sitting there not reacting. Until he finally gets hit in the head and crumples... I'm clearly not looking at the right videos?

I was thinking the same thing about the AI last night. I was wishing the AI was smarter, not just more HP and shoots straighter.

Well, that's typical in games of this sort. Increasing difficulty means you get lower health, the enemies get more health, and they get "spider sense" so they know when you're coming and where you're hiding. They rarely just get smarter.

So, I finally finished this (well, beat the game -- I still haven't nabbed all the collectibles and I'm not sure I will at this point) last night.

Overall, it's a solid game, although it loses steam towards the end.

For those complaining that the game is too easy on PC, I've actually found one segment -- ironically, the final combat segment -- that proved otherwise. In fact, the game takes the obverse effect. The easier the level you play it on, the harder the sequence is.

The final battle is you in a helicopter trying to escape from an area. It's a rail shooter segment where you have to kill enemies to keep the helicopter alive. Most of the enemies are just firing small arms at you, so it's not that difficult to survive them. There's one or two mounted machineguns that fire at you, which represent a bit more of a threat, but they're pretty easily dispatched.

The real difficulty comes from guys with rocket launchers. THOSE will fuck your shit up badly -- if you're playing on the easy levels. At the harder levels, they're relatively simple to survive. The trick is to shoot at a lot of stuff on the airstrip which will explode. If you hit these exploding items soon enough in the chopper's flight path, you'll kill the rocket launcher guys before they can kill you. HOWEVER at the easier levels, there are two problems on PC:

1.) The rocket launcher guys spawn far in advance of you -- too far to aim your gun at them or anything near them. Thus, you get hit by rockets before you can fire back.

2.) The chopper your flying IS an enemy chopper, rather than a specially-coded "hero" chopper. Thus, it takes damage the same as any other enemy chopper. What's that mean? Well, at easier levels, it means that the thing is REALLY easy to kill.

So, bottom line, if you want to beat the last mission and have it be a bit easier, jack the difficulty up to hard or extreme just as you get into the chopper. If you want it to be impossible to beat, set the difficulty to medium or below.

I went through about 5 tries at this thing before I figured there must be some kind of bug and started searching around online. I saw the bit about the chopper being an enemy chopper and it all made sense. I increased the difficulty to hard or extreme (I forget which), and made it through the first time after that.

Just a tip if you get to that point and are wanting to put your fist through your monitor in frustration.
